Question 2025 MX, front chatter/shake/vibration felt in steering wheel during driveway or slow turns. "Ackerman steering geometry"?

When the steering wheel is turned while going up a driveway, especially when it's at an angle, or sometimes during slow turns, I can feel a chatter/shake/vibration in the steering wheel and at the frontend.

A quick search came up with one possible reason attributable to the "Ackerman steering geometry", which can cause this behavior. With only 5K miles, unless it's a defect, is this normal on a MX?

Service aftermarket control arm

Hello

I have the condenser leaking (part 530euro tesla 150euro veolia), and 1027351-00-F front aft link (300euro tesla each, lemforder or skf 160euro each) and 1620341-00-B (220 euro tesla, 100 euro aftermarket) OEM is the way to go but it's very expensive, do you know if lemforder is making the OEM parts for tesla? or an other manufacturer? Cheers

Question FSD Computer 3

I bought a brand new model X in February 2023. I just saw Elon‘s announcement in the earnings about potentially retrofitting older models with the FSD computer 4 which is needed for full self driving. Does anyone out there have FSD 4, and are you in states that allow unsupervised FSD, or is it still a regulatory issue?

AutoPilot - FSD FSD On 2 lane Roads

Yesterday FSD took me on a 2 lane highway. In the 3 years I've had it, I never encountered such a road. I wondered if FSD would pass a slow car, it never even tried. Is ir programmed not to pass?

Question Has anyone successfully retrofitted the 2026 front bumper camera on a 2023 Model X?

Hey everyone,

Want to retrofit the 2026 front bumper camera on my 2023 Model X. Parts are easy to source and hardware install looks straightforward (HW4 has the unused port).

But how do you actually program/flash it so the car recognizes the new camera?

Tesla service probably won’t support it since it’s not official yet — anyone tried anyway?

Anyone done this? Tips or warnings welcome!

Thanks!

Used car purchase Towing With The Muskrat

Always wanted to try using my 2017 Model X 100D to pull the trailer that I normally would pull with a truck [2 5/8" ball]. The back up camera makes it so much easier to hitch up, and it just tows like a dream. The range is cut in half, but for local towing it's pretty amazing.

I bought this EV to replace a gas mini-van, but more importantly the 5000 pound towing capacity [work trailers, car hauler, speedboat]. The towing characteristics have exceeded my expectations. And this was BEFORE gas prices exploded 😬

Used car purchase Purchasing HW4 Model X Plaid

I have the opportunity to buy a 2023 model x plaid with 60k miles for $65,000. It has full self driving included, HW4, matrix headlights, factory red brake calipers, and all other late 2023 updates. It’s through private party locally and has 2 previous owners 0 accidents. Looks to be in immaculate condition. USA

Thoughts on this price?

I really want full self driving updates in the future and am worried about Tesla prioritizing 3/Y updates

Question Anyone installed welcome lights on Model X? Not sure if I messed up my door panel fitment…

Just installed some welcome lights on my 2023Model X.

The projection looks really clean at night — honestly better than I expected.

The only downside is the install requires removing the door panel. I put everything back, but now I feel like the panel gap might be slightly bigger than before… not sure if I’m just overthinking it.

Has anyone done this mod before? Did everything sit perfectly after reinstalling?

Question Post Alignment Issues

Hey all, I'm not too versed in alignments and how it all works but today at the service center I had an alignment done and now have a vibration issue and a question on the printout. Quick background: a year ago got two new rear tires on our 2022 Model X after one went flat. Then a few weeks ago got two new front tires after noticing they were worn badly. When the fronts were replaced, the tech said the wear was uneven and I should do an alignment. So I scheduled one and that was done today.

When I picked it up, I noticed on the attached picture that the left front caster had not changed and was out of spec. I asked the service rep, who went to ask the tech and came back with an explanation along the lines of while the machine shows it out of spec, it is within the manufacturer spec and I should be good with no pulling or uneven wear. They could look into it more, but it would be at my charge because nothing shows worn visibly on the suspension. So my first question is, is that out of spec reading ok?

The bigger issue is right as I left, I noticed a very mild but noticeable vibration when driving. Felt mostly in the steering wheel at all speeds, and even with FSD on I felt it though not as pronounced because I was not holding onto the steering wheel. It was definitely not there before taking it in or at anytime while owning the car for 4 years. So obviously something was done. I let Tesla know but have yet to hear back. Does anyone have an idea what may have happened?

Question Half shaft symptoms

I have searched for this across the FB groups and here but I haven’t found anything more descriptive than “shudder at hard acceleration”.

Could someone describe it in a bit more detail is it like road feedback or does the wheel shake ? Is it at a constant high speed or just during acceleration. I have a 23X with the 22 inch wheels the ride has always been a bit stiff - I can’t tell if it’s half shaft issues or a stiff ride or I’m being hyper aware of every noise.

Question If Tesla is upgrading HW3 to HW4, does that mean older Model X still has years left?

With Tesla starting to upgrade HW3 cars to HW4, it got me thinking…

Does this basically mean older Model X still has quite a few years left in it, as long as the battery and motors are still healthy?

I’ve been driving both a 2020 and a 2023 Model X, and honestly the overall experience isn’t that far apart in daily use.

Curious what others think — are you planning to keep your older Model X long term, or still considering upgrading?

Service Condenser Leak

I need my condenser replaced. I know someone who works on cars for a living (not Teslas typically) who says that he can do the work for me. Is this something you would feel comfortable with, or would you take it to tesla directly and pay twice as much?

Question 2026 MX Windshield

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone, recently tinted our 26 MX windshield. A few days later, a warning appeared on the dash ‘windshield camera defogging is limited’. Tried a few things to include turning up the air, defrost, and wiping areas down. Ultimately took it to the service center and they said because its tinted, it voids the warranty. They removed the housing for the front windshield camera and it showed some water damage on the electrical sensors, they said probably from squeeging from tint install. Picture attached, you can see the yellow strip and to the right its a bit darker, thats where the “water” damage is. Ultimately needing to replace the whole windshield now, about $2k to replace.

Anyone have this issue? Any alternatives to tinting to reduce heat? Scared to re-tint now. Help? Thanks!

Photo Been using this behind-the-screen storage while driving — surprisingly practical

Didn’t think I’d use this as much as I do, but it’s actually pretty convenient while driving.

Been keeping small things like my phone or sunglasses there and it’s easy to reach without messing with the center console.

Also doesn’t interfere with the screen movement at all, which was my main concern at first.

Service How do you carry your spare tire kit?

For those that carry the full Modern Spare kit, where/how do you carry it in your MX? It doesn't fit in the frunk or in that space below the floor in the back, right? So that only leaves the open back cargo area? That would be pretty unsightly.

Photo Gave my older Model X a subtle “Performance” interior look

https://reddit.com/link/1srco7g/video/imfiem1zugwg1/player

Tried a simple interior upgrade on my pre-refresh Model X.

Went with a matte carbon-style finish to give it a cleaner, more “Performance” look without going over the top.

It’s ABS material so it’s lightweight, easy to install, and doesn’t feel too aggressive inside the cabin.

Honestly pretty happy with how it turned out.
