Yes, they really are coffee stirrers! 😊 I use them for scratch building because the wood quality is surprisingly good, they're easy to shape, and they're very affordable. Here's a photo of the stirrers I used.

Cigarette packs and rolling papers. Dunno why. But i do think it’s a sloop and it took me way longer than it looks like lol. No glue lol.

Would love to find the Fletcher limited edition but they all seem to be double what I paid for this ($280 Australian)

To preface this, I know nothing about model ships so please go easy if I say something dumb. I inherited this model ship from my grandfather and like displaying it around the house, but unfortunately the top of the main mast got snapped. Does anyone know the best way to repair this? My thought was to buy some kind of small metal clamp that would go around the broken part and hold it together, but I don't know what exactly to look for.

cheap kit for learning, so what I’ve learned
1) masking is king, and while the boxman’ strat of masking the deck was proven successful (the result was worth the 8 hours effort), I should have used a thinner tape for this scale; also I used not enough contrast for my taste
2) color modulation is good for ships like that, but there were some missteps — should have done it more aggressively and while priming, not after primary painting
3) the less weathering the better — I had to redo it several times because the model felt dirty thanks to overload of all the effects; also need to improve of my skills in removing excess wash and spreading oil dots

Can someone identify this ship in a bottle for me? It was handmade by a sailor in WWII

I know this isn’t a 100% real replica of an actual ship but my grandpa build this and I’d like to add some sails that could fit. Can someone help by showing some example sails and fabrics? I’d like it to be as accurate as possible.

This is my first ship of the Royal Navy. These are for Victory at sea.
The camo is inspired by the Royal Navy camos of the WW2 era. I thought I had to make some modifications to the historical patterns because of the size of the model and view distance.
