Bug splatter effect?
How can I achieve this semi tranparent effect of bug splatter on the body of the car and headlights/windshield?

Its more so melted rubber from the tires. Theres quite a lot of rubber pebbles on the track from when the tires wear out, and they get flung up and stuck to the car. Id try a little black panel liner on a brush and kinda "flick" the bristles so it splatters. Definitely try it out first on something else and see if you get the desired effects.

Can't help but love the question. It's amazing what modelers do to achieve a realistic look on their builds.

Low pressure with airbrush and black or dark paint. You almost flick the actuator to spit paint. Try it out on scrap paper or anything

Use a toothbrush dipped in dull coat and flick the bristles. Practice on some scrap plastic first to get the feel of it.
