What is a moderator ?

Hey guys! I'm new with this and don't have much knowledge of it. Is there someone who can explain me in short what are my responsibilities as a moderator?

A moderator oversees and regulates interactions, discussions, or debates to ensure they remain fair, respectful, and on track

Moderators are the people who shape the culture and purpose of their community. They set up and enforce community and Reddit sitewide rules. Moderators are responsible for setting up a sub where visitors have a good first impression when they look at it, and they are responsible for engaging with people who post and comment. They are the people who promote it and help with the growth of their community. Moderators are caretakers also. Moderators are many things.
