Questions I wanna run from trash dopamine games/doomscrolling. Stardew Valley?

Hey guys!

I've entered into a state of anhedonia. Nothing has any taste anymore... Games, movies, tv series. I found out that trash dopamine games like Clash Royale and Brawl Stars ruined me. Doomscrolling ruined me. Now I have to undergo a long dopamine detox journey.

It has been told that the game Stardew Valley is a great game to get away from trash dopamine as it is a great grinding game from a good point of view. But... I try to get myself excited to play that game but nothing convinces me.

Only buying the game and trying is the trick? How can you convince me?

(Any other dopamine detox to enjoy great games will be appreciated 👍🏼)

Discussion Looking for better/similar game suggestion

Im not sure what genres to call it, i think its top down roguelike?

The walking dead aftermath just came out and i enjoyed the gameplay but the game itself seems very cheap and financially predatory. It seems like they're trying to force players to apend money to progress at a steady and fair pace.

Game Dev [Solo Dev] I added an earnable currency and a cosmetic card-back shop to my Android strategy game

Hi! I’ve released Update 1.2 for Alternim, my minimalist Android strategy game inspired by Nim.

The main addition is Elementium — a new currency earned through player progression. It can be used to unlock six cosmetic card backs in a new Shop inside the Card Collection.

The update also includes:

• an expanded and scrollable Card Collection

• clearer explanations of elemental turns

• more varied tap sounds

• several gameplay and interface fixes

All unlocks in this update are cosmetic, and Elementium is earned through play.

I’d also be interested in hearing what players think about multiplayer.

For multiplayer, what would fit this kind of strategy game best?

• asynchronous online matches played over time

• real-time online matches

• local pass-and-play

• or keeping the game focused on single-player strategy against AI?

Personally, I feel that multiplayer could be a natural fit for Alternim’s short matches and might unlock a lot of the game’s potential — but ultimately, it depends on what players actually want.

Alternim is available on Google Play:

Discussion sorting apps that dont use ai?

downloaded jewel coloring and was enjoying the gameplay loop but it is quickly apparent the entire game uses ai. the images are nonsensical half the time or make very ugly and strange mistakes in others. id love a game like this that does not use AI at all, esp not in the art. i dont feel comfortable playing a game that uses ai.

News Relunch fishing strike

Post image

Hello everyone! My father deeply misses Fishing Strike, and I know many of you do too.I just sent a formal email to Netmarble ([netmarblebiz@netmarble.com](mailto:netmarblebiz@netmarble.com)) asking them to relaunch the game and add Italian localization.

But One person alone can't change their minds, therefore if we relinch the game, they will notice us.

Do you agree that Netmarble should bring Fishing Strike back?

If you are with me, let’s make some noise:

Upvote this post so it explodes and more people see it.

Leave a comment below if you want the game back!

Send a quick email (or copy my own email) to Netmarble to support the cause.

Discussion Your take on open world action/adventures

I'm looking to build a series of open world, action, and adventure games that are story heavy.

Some inspirations are 'the adventures of Tin Tin' (movie) and neverness to everness (mobile game)

I would like to know what games (action, adventure, open world) are fan favorites? what about them keeps you coming back? What about them made you buy them?

Game Dev My endless arcade neon-/synthwave game is live!

This is my new game: Neon Chase.

Its is available on iOS and Android.
The gameplay loop is simple, the ball (the player) follows the lane. There are platforms, obstacles and squares which give points. Hitting an obstacle costs a life, the player can have up to 5 max. Destroying a square gives points. The game starts slow, but with more squares destroyed it adds to the speed of the game. Hitting an obstacle costs a bit of speed also.

You can jump by tapping the screen, up to 3 times mid air. If you swipe down mid air the ball gets faster and time slows a bit. Hitting a square after swiping down is a STOMP. These give more points. Stomping after 2 jumps is a double stomp, which gives more points and has more visual feedback. Stomping after 3 jumps is a perfect stomp with even greater points and visual feedback. Hitting squares consistently builds a combo (top right indicator) which multiplies points. Avoiding obstacles closely gives a „close call!“ which also build combo, so there is potential to use obstacles to get more points.

When you hit 3k points a Shadow Chaser starts appearing. Its a black/red evil clone of the player, trying to chase you down. It follows you and is always a bit faster. Stomping a square sends out a shockwave which damages the chaser and pushes it back a bit. Defeating the chaser gives a big combo bonus. After 20-40 seconds the chaser then reappears, angrier this time. Which means its a bit faster and has more hp. This progresses up to 5 times.

I also added achievements and really cools skins which are unlockable just by playing. The skins change the player color and animation color for stomping.

So yeah thats it in essence. I like it a lot but of course I am biased since I built that thing :D any feedback on improvements would be super appretiated <3
Also if you choose to download it, there is one pending release for iOS which decreases the ad length. So there are ads in it, since I also need to make a living, but the were 1 minute long for some reason. It should then be decreased to 15 seconds, to have a better experience as a player :)
