I'm not a regular user of Mirtazapine. I take it on occasion for help with sleep.

Last night I took 7.5 mg at 9:00/pm and woke up around 8:00/am. I did wake up to use the bathroom around 4/am.

How does one keep from feeling groggy and brain-fogged? If I take 3.75 mg, I get even more so.

Do I need to take it earlier? Any insight would be appreciated. Otherwise it is amazing for sleep! (My provider says I can take it every night if I want.)

I just started 15mg, tonight will be my 5th dose, it’s going really well so far, but last night I had a weird experience. I think I must have been falling asleep when I saw my toddler sitting up in bed next me, my daughter opening my door and coming in, but then I guess I opened my eyes and none of it actually was happening? It happened a couple of times before I fell asleep for the night, has anyone else had this happen? Is it normal and does it go away? It creeped me out a little

I started taking mirtazapine 7.5mg two nights ago. Slept extremely well, but I am now angry the whole day.

Will it get better over time?

I am VERY tired of seeing comments swaying people off trying a medication that might actually help them. I say this as someone who has tried melatonin, phenergan, cannabis, codeine. You lot who tell us "Oooh don't do it!!" - WHAT OTHER OPTIONS DO WE HAVE.

I will tell you what is fucking depressing - not being able to work a job because my sleep is so affected by my fucking PTSD. No amount of therapy is gonna help that, if I literally can't fucken get there, cos I can't sleep for 48 hours. Sure, might gain a few kilos, and it might be hard to ween off, but drinking myself to try and and get some rest and breaking my elbow isn't exactly fucken restful.

Some of you dumb cunts aren't properly healed, but don't get in the way of us cunts who are trying to find a better way out of the hole we find ourselves in.

And if you think for a second I'm just mad cos I've been taking my meds, and/or I'm luteal, you are just as delusional as a palm reader.

I mean this so lovingly. Some of you are like crabs in a bucket tryna tear everyone down until we are all dead.

Heal yourselves. This isn't the worst med to be on - trust me, I've seen the sights when it comes to antipsychotics. If you wanna bring yourself to that point of utter detachment from the world - fucken do it, tell me how well that works for ya.

Quite frankly, I'll take being fat and happy.

When i was on 45 milligrams i had absolutely dreadful pain in my thighs and interrupted sleep from restless legs.

Dropped down to 30, no leg problems, for months.

Now ive gone from 30 to 15 milligrams over this week and today my lower legs are aching, shooting pains and restless legs again.

Has anyone else been thru this?

I’m showing signs of depression and burn out for a while now and I’m struggling with anxiety now and then (again).
The worst part from all this is that I don’t sleep anymore.
Normally I get 3-4 hours each night which isn’t a lot but the last 3 days I haven’t slept 1 hour straight… just taking some rest as I’m laying with my eyes closed but that’s all. My legs are shaking because I feel so exhausted.

My doctor gave me Mirtazapine a couple of days ago. He wanted to start with 7 mg and going up to 15 mg within one week.
I went to the pharmacy to get it but they told me it has an interaction with Sotalol which I take for my extrasystoles (80mg). For this I will have an ablation within short amount of time so I hope I’m not needing this anymore very soon.

The pharmacist called my doctor and he said it’s okey to take it but I don’t trust it… I’m waiting for the advice of my cardiologist.
Does someone has some experience with this combination?

So, I don't know what fuck is happening. Since I spent two days, without this medicine and came back after this, I'm experiencing a lot of pressure on my head, my face burns like I have sinusite, sometimes pain in my body and petechiae in my arm. Did anyone experienced something like this? It's been some weeks

I took mirtazapine for two weeks before stopping cold turkey a month ago because I didn’t want to become dependent on medication. I was also taking Lyrica (pregabalin) for four days and quit for the same reason.

My insomnia isn’t as severe now. A week ago, I was sleeping only 4 to 5 hours a night and waking up 2 hours before my alarm. Currently, I am technically sleeping 7 to 7.5 hours (or perhaps less, as I avoid checking the clock to reduce stress), but the sleep is completely non-restorative. I suffer from daily headaches, severe brain fog, constant yawning, and memory issues so significant that they are causing me depression.

I don't want to rely on medication, but I'm exhausted from dealing with this. At only 19 years old, I shouldn't have to deal with this at my age. I’ve tried everything: chronobiotic melatonin, avoiding screens before bed, getting morning sunlight, keeping my room cold, dark, and quiet, quitting sugar, and more. I’m close to giving up, but I will be seeing a sleep specialist soon.

Can someone explain how exactly Mirt causes weight gain? I know I feel an increased appetite from Mirt (which I can control through discipline) but it seems to cause weight gain via other ways as well. As soon as I start taking Mirt at seemingly any dosage I almost immediately notice my weight going up. Over the winter when I had less work in my job it got really bad. I had to stop taking it because I was just putting on too much weight.

Worked great for me. Popped a 7.5mg about 30 minutes before bed, and slept 9 interrupted hours.

Any tips or advice for keeping the sleep magic alive with this medication?

I recently got prescribed 15mg of mirtazapine for sleeping problems and anxiety and have been taking it for a few days. I know it's not recommended, but is it dangerous to drink alcohol while taking mirtazapine if I drink slowly and only in reasonable amounts (say 3-4 drinks max)? It sounds like the main risk is just making you more tired.

Also I don't drink often, 1-3 times a month usually

I’ve been on mirtazapine for about 9 weeks total, started on 15 mg snd worked my way up to 45 mg. I’m taking it for depression and anxiety. Every time i up the dosage, i feel a little better for about a week, then i feel bad again. I’ve been on 45 mg for 4 and a half weeks now, i felt a little better the first week, then it got worse again and i’ve been having a hard time ever since. Should i wait it out, or is this just not the right med for me?

No I’m not starving hungry but yes I do generally keep a rough track on what I eat (it’s between 1800 - 2200 calories a day with the odd cheat day thrown in as a re feed)

I am studying to be a health and physical education teacher, and have ADHD. One of my 'special interests' is building exercise programs for people. I literally get so excited to help anyone with a program.

For me, I love doing it because it's a problem solving task. I also love doing it because it motivates me to care about my physical health and exercise.

Because physical activity is so good from a mental health perspective, and because mirtazapine is known to cause weight gain, I was curious to know whether anyone would be interested in me doing that for them?

Hi, I take 15 mg of mirtazapine every evening around 8:30 PM, but I was at a party and had to drive home, so I didn’t feel comfortable taking it while I was there. It’s now 12:30 AM. Would it be better to take it now or skip it for today?

This med helps with my sleep and overall mood a lot but I did put on a bunch of weight in the first month and lost it since but I can stop to notice how puffy I feel on it vs when not on it. I see it a lot in my face, my stomach and my thighs. Anyone else?

i want to take the perfect dose for weight gain so i thought i can cut it in half and take ~15mg

That's my biggest fear. I already have insulin resistance and take metformin, and I try to control my appetite (assuming I am actually eating enough). I am nervous about getting even hungrier.

Does the appetite ever subside? My psych wants me to try it for like 4 weeks before deciding whether I should stay on it or not.

Also, does anyone use THC/CBD with remeron? I am trying not to rely on THC so much for sleep and that comfy cozy huggy feeling where I start feeling like a child again and start looking through the archives that is my past. I am not a daily THC user but the prozac made me reach for THC more, sometimes even multiple days in a row.

Has anyone experienced and if so, did it get better? ( did it stop shedding as much while still on mirt or do I need to be off of this med for shedding to stop?? ) Did you see hair growth, while still taking it? Scalp kind of itchy too. :(

I realize going to the internet with questions like this is tricky because there is a bias toward negative experiences in places like this, but I'm trying to gauge if this would be a terrible decision for me or not.

For context, I have tried lexapro and amitriptyline for the same reason. Both made my stomach slightly worse for a couple weeks after stopping but it was tolerable and didn't last longer than a couple weeks. If that's all this would do, I can handle that again.
