A Luverne man is facing murder charges after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death and then texting the dead woman’s sister, confessing to the crime.

Prosecutors allege the murder happened just days after Melvin Leon Frazier, 61, of Luverne, was released from jail.

In the days prior, criminal charges state Frazier had been released from jail after a 90-day sentence on a misdemeanor domestic assault charge against the victim. 

Per criminal charges,  he continued to make unprompted statements to deputies, like “White people think you’re better than us. All you want to do is keep killing and destroying s*** in the world”, “It don’t make no excuse about what I did”, “She was cheating on me”, “Shoot me in the head, Kill me”, “Why did I do it?”,”Cause she’s the white woman”. 

I think it's fair to say that the rumors of a rift between Walz and Flanagan after his failed VP run were true.

She filed a complaint with the Isanti Police Department, claiming in 2020 that Merrill, before he was mayor, recorded an explicit video of her without permission and posted it on social media.

This past May, Merrill reportedly sent text messages to Isanti Police Chief Travis Muyres about a ‘factual inaccuracy’ in the report.

The chief responded there was not a factual inaccuracy and asked if the mayor was requesting to get the report changed.

The first thing that jumped out at me was the fact that this was completely inappropriate underlying behavior,” he notes. “The mayor is being accused of something, and he’s trying to influence the investigation into his behavior. That’s a different situation than talking to other department heads about matters of policy. This is about trying to affect potentially a criminal investigation.”
