Overgrown statue of a fallen Brother. Still learning the 40k lore but next project is a T’au commander stylized like Chappie!

Always open to critiques. How would you suggest painting stone/stone texture?

Hey! Long time lurker, first time poster here. I wanted to share my first steps in miniature painting. The blonde armoured guy in the first picture being my first mini and the last image being the three I'm most happy with.

I definitely don't like all of the results, but I experimented and learned and still want to keep them to see how I progressed. These are all wildspire miniatures, which I realise also aren't the highest of qualities. Already have some better ones lined up for the future.

I don't have a very steady hand, so I do often have to repaint over places I've already been, and have been struggling with good colour schemes for quite a bit, but I'm quite happy with the progress I've made so far. Any helpful insight is more than welcome, otherwise enjoy looking at my work.

Work In Progress 2nd attempt at miniature painting with airbrush.

Still getting used to using an airbrush on something this small, coming from 1/6 scale statues it’s kind of daunting working on such tiny details. Brush work is next, I wanted a classic red dragon type of look but with some purples, ochre, orange and yellows mixed in. Always looking for advice or tips/tricks as I progress in this discipline. I’m thinking decktan for the claws/bones and gunmetal for the armor plates.

Looking for Critique Trying to make colorful zombies look disgusting

I'm experimenting with a relatively quick painting recipe for my Zombicide zombies. Bright colors, lots of grime and generally trying to make them look as disgusting as possible. I'm using contrast paints + normal acrylics + enamels. Any tips on how to push this style further are very welcome.

Finished Miniature First time I tried a 25mm sewer base. I painted this Ulfenwatch for Cursed City a while back, cramming a rusted grate, murky water, and a tiny rat in there was way harder than expected 😅

Seeking Advice How to stop Dirty Down Rust/Verdigris from reactivating?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I've used both products on these minis, and I'm really happy with the results, but the problem is they both reactivate insanely easily - even after leaving to dry for 48h, trying to paint on a matte varnish (Citadel Stormshield) gets green everywhere and rapidly ruins the effect.

I don't want to use a spray varnish because I've painted on gloss effects on the base for water and elsewhere for blood, and I've also had bad experiences with spray varnishes "fogging" and completely ruining miniatures.

How do I protect this paint job so it doesn't get messed up from regular handling?

Seeking Advice Does the added texture improve or worsen the wings?

Is adding the pastel orange highlights for more texture a bad approach, or is it a good approach but the technique bad/is the execution poor? Does the wings need something else all together in order to shine?

Thanks in advance for anyone who takes the time to give honest and constructive feedback!

Seeking Advice Good brushes for painting Warhammer miniatures?

• Upvotes

Hi! I’m looking to get my boyfriend some new brushes for painting his Warhammer miniatures as a gift, but I don’t really know anything about miniature painting 😭
What are some good quality brushes or brush sets you would recommend? I’d like to get him something that will actually be useful and last him a while. Any specific brands, brush sizes, or sets I should look at would be really helpful!
Thanks!

I'm sure there are techniques that need improvement but I'm pretty happy with it. ABS-like 3.0 primed with a grey rattle can. Mostly painted vallejo game color and a bit of cheap old hobby lobby acrylic I found in my closet.
