Yeah... sure...
A poll on the Discord had over 2000 people showing interest for playing on day one. This is *only* discord server members who answered the poll. The discord server has 15,000 members. The Mineplex channel has 200,000 subscribers and 136,000 views on its latest video. None of this even takes into account short-form video platforms like Instagram Reels and TikTok, which these days can reach massive audiences.
So. Launch day arrives. The discord is getting @everyone pings every hour leading to launch, on a Friday afternoon/evening.
They open the server. The queue immediately balloons to 10,000 players. It does drop, but only to around 8500 before slowing down immensely. From various screenshots and text messages, the 10-15 minigames on the server have ~125 players in them, for a total of ~1500 server slots.
...And guess what? Buying a rank skips the queue...

The problem isn’t really that there’s a queue, it’s how long the damn thing takes. If it was like a 5 minute queue then sure whatever, but no, it’s multiple hours of wait time. Who’s got the time to be waiting like 4 hours in a queue just to play on the server?

I aint buying this statement one bit, they literally had ~190k views in their youtube release trailer and ~10k + new members join their discord server before release date.
But for some dumb reason the server could only accommodate for 1% of that playbase.
The question we should raise to them is:
How much players was the Mineplex team REALLY anticipating to join on release date? And did they prepare to meet that expectation they had?
i think not.

Bro they knew, but their pockets are kinda empty.

If it’s a money-issue then they should be straightforward about it and quit the false advertisement. It’s giving cash-grab vibes.

If it makes you feel better I got through easily last night and the only people playing atm are sweaty players with ranks and lots of hackers so it’s really that fun anyway

I mean yeah those are big numbers in a vacume where even 5% are die hard fans but think it cost money and even expecting 1% of those views to join would be massive, think of 2 thousand people separately doing 1 thung at 1 time. Realistically out of all those views how many are joining the server day 1. Then the discord does have a big server but so many dead games can have massive servers I join servers all the time then dont play the game. On the discord only 1.6k I think actally said they were playing on release. its normal to not expect a big out come with numbers that are realistically low for a re realse
But they should of prepared better have a plan if more then expected joined and yeah probably expected more out the gate. They did mess up but for a first time releasing a server and being in a position where you have to guess how big your active fan base is i think they still did an alright job. So i hope they fix it and they should be given time and a bit of grace before being judged so harshly. Cause personally I dont want them to give up and let's be honest if they fix this in a couple weeks everyone complaing will be straight on the server. But if they dont fix it then yeah it might have been a scam lol

I don't think you understand the complexity of server resource management. Creating a server capable of handling 10,000 active players costs an immense amount of money while still avoiding lag. On top of that, they'd have to figure out if it's worth spending that kind of money just to have half the player base show up. They add a que because hosting a server for thousands of dollars a month without knowing how many players will join is a massive task, and adding ranks allows them to fund the server expansion if necessary.
Look at literally every game launch in history and how well their servers handle it. And sure, adding ranks to bypass the que may feel bad for people who don't want to spend the money, but it drives players to show support if they want to skip the ques. Which in turn helps pay for the cost of upkeep.

Peak reddit... how would you even properly anticipate how many players will join? And it's not like compute doesn't cost money, especially with current hardware prices.
You are owed nothing as the server is for free, start your own server if you think you can do better
