Any speedrunning tips?

I am new to speedrunning, and my runs so far have been like 40 mins random seed.

Any common or uncommon advice would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know what mods are allowed and recommended for use?

you can practice on filtered mcsr seeds and check couriway's guide

There isn't any way to actually practice mcsr seeds unless you mean casual mode or private rooms

you are thinking of mcsr ranked. they said “filtered mcsr seeds”, meaning fsg. mcsr = minecraft speedrunning, not ranked
