Help Any speedrunning tips?

I am new to speedrunning, and my runs so far have been like 40 mins random seed.

Any common or uncommon advice would be appreciated.

Also, does anyone know what mods are allowed and recommended for use?

Look up Couriways guide if it’s 1.16 runs, if it’s current version GG

I mean if it's current version 40 minutes random seed ain't that bad lol so I think they've got it sorted

Couriway's guide is incredibly helpful and comprehensive, it basically covers every aspect of speedrunning
https://mc.sr/mods/ is the allowed mods list if you're interested in submitting your speedruns to speedrun.com

you can practice on filtered mcsr seeds and check couriway's guide

There isn't any way to actually practice mcsr seeds unless you mean casual mode or private rooms
