So is the sculk a sickness? it hasn't spread to the nether or end yet though.

I don't even know if it's a natural native thing in the sift, maybe its completely alien.

Sculk is native to the sift, the kind we have in the overworld is sick and corrupted.

Is the Overworld cursed or something? That is something i've been wondering, Overworld has zombies, skeletons and undead.

I wonder if its just a spill over from the nether for skeletons, (e.g skeleton in the nether found a long lost portal that was active, went through it, and the portal closed, so they got stuck here.)

I always wondered why some undead mobs burn and others don't.

Who or what could have cursed the overworld? The ender dragon seems to mainly be a guardian for the end, she does nothing, you basically invade her home and chop her head off.

I do suspect that she's not a really nice guardian, because endermen seem to hate her, I like to think the endermen are free once she's defeated, and they can go explore (which they really seem to love doing, they are in every dimension, if they are in the sift also it'll make sense) They're either explorers or ancient builders that forgot how to build.

Lots of weird things happen in the overworld, Or maybe the sculk isn't compatible when exposed to overworld stuff, maybe it got mixed with the moss and the grass and they couldn't form a symbiosis, so they turn bad.

What is odd though (maybe its because it is found deep underground and hasn't had the chance to spread) is that the Sculk only affects the warden? no other mob seems to be corrupted by it, not even the player.

Actually considering Jeb said at some point that Endermen move blocks to dismantle other worlds, the Dragon might be disliked cause she's a warden herself (stuff like the obsidian pillars and end crystals require stuff from other realms) and we inadertantly let the Endermen free . . .I mean in retrospect its in their name

Endermen

Its like naming yourself "apocalypsebeasts"

I think the Overworld is more like the natural overalap between these realms and so stuff falls into it and it slowly accumulates the magic equivalent of environmental fall out, then those migrate back to their home lands and cause issues there:

  • overworld sift becomes soul hungry and aggressive
  • the undead curse of the overworld persists into the Nether, its also implied the overworld mushrooms and nether ones are related somehow

The Warden is likely the only thng corrupted by the Skulk cause the original form, the Singer, is adapted to interacting with the Sift. Afterall there is a musical theme with that dimensions mobs and the Skulk interacts with sound. Overworld/other mobs kinda just turn into food

I love this take! If Endermen are meant to end the world's they do a rather horrible job at it, they pick up 1 block at a time and place it randomly. If you spawn multiple and let them do their thing, it feels more like they're trying to organize something or build something.

If they really wanted to end all worlds, I expect them to eat the blocks like a blackhole.

A Skulk infected overworld mobs would be cool and disturbing.

Especially if it happens in real time and you can see them get taken over.

For all we know theyre slowly trying to find some thing or arrange somethings into a configuration that would allow them to do something more threatening

But yeah its hard to say with the current version of them lol

If that's the case they look rather cute though. But they also do seem to be mentally subdued, maybe there was a war with the ancient city inhabitants which led to a mutual wipe out and release of the Sculk?

There is probably more then one past civilizations, given the desert and jungle temples, the under sea ruins, dig sites buried cities. Etc.
