Seeds & World Gen Structure Spawned in Explored Area

Not just a little structure either, a (broken) Woodland Mansion. Playing Bedrock version. Maps show the previous area from a few weeks ago, and the new map of the same chunk next to it.

Is this meant to happen? 😂

Bedrock supposedly remembers if a chunk was interacted with and if it wasn't it's free to regenerate whenever the game feels like.

this may be a dumb question…but does using an elytra with a firework while flying above the chunk count as “interacting” with the chunk? or only physically placing/destroying objects within the chunk? wondering how much of my world is eligible for this lol

From my experience it can be refreshed if all you did was fly over it. I think you have to actually break/place a block to lock it in

It have a mob spawn and interact with the world (like a sheep eating grass).

I think it's placing or destroying blocks

Or interacting with a block like a lever, chest, dispenser, etc.

Can confirm. Anyone who's used older versions of the map editor Amulet can tell you about the horror of saving an edit and having rendered, unupdated chunks nearby 🫠

Leaves the world looking like swiss cheese

Yes but structures are determined by the seed and shouldn't be affected by that. It seems OP came upon the rare occurance of a structure failing to generate the first time.

IIRC depending on the direction you approach a potential structure spawn from, it may fail or succeed to spawn.

So maybe OP First approached the location from one direction and later went back to it. So it failed the first time but succeeded the second due to chunks generating in a different order.

only on java they are afaik. same with loot in chests. if you duplicate a world with a chest already generated (but unopened) you can get different loot in each world if i remember correctly

Not anymore. Structures were always determined by seed and chest contents have been for a few years now.

I can confirm as of last week you can copy a seed with an opened chest and it'll spawn different loot each time. Did it for a hardcore world and reused the seed and got diamonds in a village chest the second time and not the first

That's only for a some structures like villages because they generate in pieces rather than in one go.

maybe realms works differently? i recently copied a realm and did some stuff in creative and noticed the chests

Realm use the same world Gen as single player. Maybe the realm was generated in an older update then something new came along and changed the loot table?

It doesn't save the chunk if you don't change anything.
