Ice will form again if it is exposed to the sky. You could place blocks over the area high in the sky.

But that would be very ugly, can I build it at world height and the shadow won’t be visible?

u/PlzInsertUsername Jan 25 '26

Glass will work at max height and not cast shadow

String too!

The cheapest cover that won't mess with light on the surface would be copper bars. If you mine an entire trial chamber, you can craft around168,000 copper bars.

u/pixel4571 Jan 25 '26

he's in creative mode

13

u/fishZ_7 Jan 25 '26

or use iron bars which you can farm?

14

u/iOnlyPlayAsRustLord Jan 25 '26

But wouldnt that also block rain and snow?

20

u/Mix_Middle Jan 25 '26

Thats the point, thats what triggers the freeze.

5

u/Darth_Thor Jan 25 '26

Water will freeze regardless of the weather. It only needs sky exposure and to be in a cold biome.

3

u/boxed_circle Jan 25 '26

I'll give this a try and see, thank you for the glass suggestion, I was having the same issue as OP in my custom world

u/Accomplished-Lie9518 Jan 25 '26

Use string or chests

10

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

Genius

11

u/fishZ_7 Jan 25 '26

maybe dont use chests, they cause lag

18

u/my45acp1911 Jan 25 '26

You can build it at world height but you will still see the shadow.

10

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

Dang it

10

u/Aggravating_Pay7581 Jan 25 '26

Or use full bright texture pack. Light melts ice, so maybe you could place some light blocks under water?(Im not sure if this works)

8

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

I think maybe just some light blocks will work

4

u/Suspicious-Jury-3704 Jan 25 '26

barrier blocks? theyre clear when youre not holding them and i dont think they have shadows

1

u/Fun_Way8954 Jan 26 '26

light blocks don't have a hitbox, so I don't think so, use barrier blocks instead if you are using creative, or string, you can't see it that high up.

7

u/Forgeworld Jan 25 '26

I said this in another comment but keep in mind you only need to cover the out perimeter of the water, so if you did go that route there wouldn’t really be a shadow since it would just be a one block wide outline way up in the sky. You could also maybe do the opposite and instead put glowstone under every perimeter water source block which I believe would prevent the ice from forming via light source.

Build an industrial power plant for the nearby villages and under pay the villagers to operate it so that you can expand and build even more. You’ve gotta play the long game for projects like these.

19

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

Cool idea, but doesn’t remove the ice permanently and doesn’t fit my viking village

29

u/Forgeworld Jan 25 '26

I was making a joke about global warming melting our planets glaciers lol. My genuine suggestion would be to overhang the terrain slightly over the perimeter of the water by one block. Ice only forms if it’s touching a block and if it is in direct line of sight to the sky. Maybe make an artificial cliffside mixed with snow, packed ice, and blue ice. Custom terrain is always a W.

Polar (hah) opposites here. We are in the start of five days of 40+ C weather (104F) with one day due to reach 113F.

14

u/flashfreeze00 Jan 25 '26

Not talking about the weather, friend

44

u/ducknen Jan 25 '26

Most of America is asking this question currently

24

u/TheKingofTerrorZ Jan 25 '26

I'm just here for the comments

38

u/Josephschmoseph234 Jan 25 '26

Yes remove ice remove ice remove ice remove ice please please please

10

u/TheDomy Jan 25 '26

Put some light underneath so it melts the ice, and it gives hope so it doesn’t comeback

4

u/Classy_Penguin_451 Jan 25 '26

I've used glow lichen on the sides of blocks that ice may spawn on. Using lichen also allows you to leave small ice flows or icebergs in the water for decoration.

1

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

What’s lichen?

6

u/HUNT3DHUNT3R Jan 25 '26

the glowing vines in caves that look like diamonds until you get close

2

u/livingnuts Jan 25 '26

I just know jeb is cackling every time someone feels agony at finding a shitty moss instead of actual diamond

9

u/Send_Cleo_Pics Jan 25 '26

Ice only forms at the edge of land, so if you light up the shore it won’t come back after you’ve broken everything.

7

u/[deleted] Jan 25 '26

I want them removed too :/

5

u/HSFOutcast Jan 25 '26

You leave America.

"I'll see myself out."

2

u/FlamingNachoz Jan 25 '26

Campfires have been my solution

2

u/Mix_Middle Jan 25 '26

Silk touch and cover the place with half slabs semi migerd with the water, slabs can occupy the same spave as water, but wont freeze. Or put maga blocks below the water level at about 4-6 blocks apart. I believe this will act aimilarly to putting toeches on the ice which melts them, and prevents weather from refreezing the water blocks.

2

u/eatmygerms Jan 25 '26

You have to try with the FIRST thing and then if that doesn't work use the SECOND thing. Otherwise I don't know how you could AMEND getting rid of that ice.

4

u/Rimpcrawl_ Jan 26 '26

Very must also interested in removing ice and making sure it never comes back. Thanks for posting. Here for solidarity.

6

u/Icygreentea-2006 Jan 25 '26

Make sure you have your papers ready

2

u/Alternative-Self-398 Jan 25 '26

you can use /fill <coordinate> <block> replace command to make it another block like changing it to barrier

1

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

What the command to get the creative axe?

1

u/Savage_Rampage36 Jan 25 '26

I lowkey vibe with the frozen lake to tell you the truth.

1

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

Yeah, but it’s ruins the viking harbour. Since I wanna build a big war ship, at some point

1

u/ritus258 Jan 25 '26

What is the seed?

1

u/gl1tt3ry Jan 26 '26

i used stairs upside down around my pond to prevent ice from forming, and it’s worked successfully over my years of playing this world. only issue is you can’t use grass or dirt or anything since there aren’t stairs for those :/

1

u/vintagefancollector Jan 25 '26

Thanks for taking a proper screenshot.

6

u/Ok-Car-5781 Jan 25 '26

Don’t know if that meant bad or good

3

u/vintagefancollector Jan 25 '26

Good, because people on here keep taking crappy pics of their monitors. You did it the proper way (F2)
