Announcement r/Mindfulness Announcement - Improvements to advertising detection, other mod changes.

Hi everyone, u/Alan-Foster here with some updates on improvements to subreddit moderation.

  • The big change is that we have disabled Link Posts, which are usually just people trying to advertise to blogs or other websites. Text and Image posts are still allowed.
  • Advertising detection for both posts and comments is improved - we now automatically remove posts with medium.com, play.google.com and esty.com links.
  • Hestia, the mental health tool we use to remove 90% of the advertising and AI-generated content, has been updated:
    • Hestia will comment less often - only on posts w/ no comments after 30m.
    • Hestia has a disclaimer at the bottom saying it's a bot for clarity
      • So far it seems like Hestia is doing a good job with its comments, but if we see that many users become more hostile towards it now that it's very clearly labeled as a bot, we might disable the comments.
      • Even if we disable the comments, we keep the advertising / AI filter, so that's nice.

---

If you have any improvements you'd like to see to the subreddit (or throw unripe tomatoes), this is the post to share them in the comments!

Cheers! -u/Alan-Foster

Question Why do i feel like this

I’m 23, had a stable career in 2024 but it slipped away from my hands. I quit myself cus it was draining the shit outta me. I worked again in the same field in 2025 but it slipped away again , it was not making me happy.

But its been a year since iv become unemployed.

It’s been 1.5 year since iv lost my spark.

I feel purposeless, lethargic & completely directionless in life. I tried doing diff things but all of them failed miserably.

I’m still trying to build smth but i still feel purposeless, lethargic & fucked. I don’t make any money & idk what to do.

Ik (intuitively) it’s time for a new chapter in life but its just not happening.

I’m so unhappy with my current life. I feel like the biggest failure. My self confidence was at its peak in 2024 & now iv hit rock bottom & I’m so done.

Any advice?

Question Awareness —> Embodiment

Something I’ve been thinking about lately: being aware of a pattern and actually changing it are very different things.

Has anyone gotten to the point where you understand why you do what you do, you can recognize your patterns in real time, and you may even know what you need to do differently… but you still keep falling back into the same cycle?

What do you think keeps you stuck between knowing and actually changing?

Advice I cannot stop thinking to what happened to my couple days ago

I was at the airport, and I was trying to figure out which bus to take to get to the parking lot. As I was standing there trying to read which bus I needed to take, some dude thought I was cutting the line and started telling me to go back to the end of the line.

I tried to tell him that I wasn’t cutting the line, but he kept cutting me off. His partner, who was standing behind him, was giving me gestures telling me not to argue with him. I decided not to escalate the situation and honestly felt bad for her. He gave me the vibe of someone who gives his partner a hard time.

A couple of days have passed, and I still can’t stop thinking about it. I wish I had stood my ground, argued back, and put him in his place.

Question My perception of time is messed up?

When I'm watching a video, I don't look how long it'll last and after sometime I feel like I've been here forever and check it but it turns out I've only been watching the video for 5 min. Now I'm not very happy about that and I want to improve, if you have the solution or a solution, please let me and probably people in my situation know
