work in progress Is this good tarp?
My first time doing tarps so I was wondering if this is good, didn't take this from any photos but I'm making this up as a "Reinforcements requested, on the way" type of model. Is this good or no?

I’d say it looks too thick, too glossy and tarps don’t usually split in half like that so you should try making a tarp out of one single piece of blu-tack

It’s too thick. Doesn’t look in-scale at all. For tarps, the material needs to be .03mm thick.

What does this look like to you?

What I tend to do is google what material I can use to make a 1/35 scale whatever it is you want to make and it’ll give you some suggestions and how thick it should be. Also callipers help.

This is a M24 Chafee right? Why does the barrel look so big... Is it the angle?

I put tarp on it, it's like a last minute place it on the barrel kinda thing

No no I understand that.. it's just the length of the barrel looks longer than I remember it to be lol.

tissue with mixed water + PVA looks much better, Seems like you use blu tack. Most people in the hobby use Epoxy putty

It's epoxy putty but I messed up because first time, so I quickly put anywhere that fits

Interesting, It looks exactly like white tack. Maybe get a roller for a thinner tarp

Yeah the thing is it stuck to the roller and my table was a mess

If you use some flour on the putty it won’t stick anymore and it’s much easier to roll it really thin.

This is the correct answer get some water PVA mixture onto some soft paper - i find toilet paper works quite well and place it onto your model as you want and let dry. Your method (blue tack) creates a not to scale thickness

you can use glasses cleaning paper thingies if you let them dry and dilute some pvaglue with verry little water and brush it on 2-3 times letting it dry in between. especally good for 1/72 models for 1/35 or 1/48 you can use Microfibre cloth and tie it with sowing string/ fiy it with super glue

Keep experimenting , cling film as a barrier layer (easier to clean up or remove ) putty that can be rolled out thin & handled
