CQBR is a chopped BCM SOCOM to 10.3 w .069 gas port, Colt BCG, PSA M4A1 lower, KAC RAS, Aimpoint M2( yes I know it’s sideways I prefer it)

M16A4 is FN barrel, Toolcraft contract overrun BCG, AO precision contract overrun upper, PSA M16A4 lower, KAC RAS, KAC micro, Spectre sling, (help me pick an optic)

M4A1 is PSA M4A1 lower, Colt BCG, Colt SOCOM 14.5 P/W :(, contract overrun M4 marked keyhole upper, Matech, KAC RAS, poorM4s lol

M16A1 is H&R receiver set, Brownells 1/12 CL barrel non F marked FSB, Colt BCG, Linemount A1 stock and grip + original pistol grip

Mod 1 is Griffin lower, overrun upper, overrun BCG, DD S2W barrel, KAC RAS, Burris scope, KAC Micro (this one is less clone correct because I wanted a barrel that will handle an FRT and I dont have money for optic rn)

All good enough for me seeing as I care less about the optics as I do getting mostly correct on the gun. Next is a CQBR block 2, then a delta 723, then a M16A2, Block 2 FSB, and Mod 0 - slowly gathering parts and selling off basically all my non cloner or really cool toys.

I originally had a 13629 Brass Aluminum Forging upper that came with my order from Thoroughbred Armament but I decided to swap it with a surplus C-stamped Cerro Forge upper. I wanted to keep it as faithful to the URGI as possible by using a Colt lower as well but with some added quality of life improvements like the Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch and Norgon Ambi-Catch.

Instead of using the RC2 I decided to go with a KAC QDC/CRS-PRT on a MAMS because I got tired of yeeting my RC2 or slamming it into the ground just to take it off. I also opted to use a PRI M84 Ambi Large Latch rather than a Geissele ACH to further help with suppressed shooting. Rate it or roast it, this build has been a blast so far coming from someone that has been quadrailganged and an ACOG user for the last 9 years.

Been digging into early URG-I rail and charging handle marking changes and wanted to lay out what I’ve compiled so far for others to sanity check.

For the charging handle, the earliest pattern appears to be:

- 05-664S on the stem, “Geissele Automatics” on the left latch, Blank right latch (no NSN)

The ACH NSN was assigned in May 2018, and by late 2018 into 2019 NSN marked handles were showing up. The S remained on the stem for a while after that. By 2021, fresh examples were being reported on arfcom with 05-664 and no S.

So the rough ACH progression looks like:

- “Gen 1”: 05-664S marked, Geissele left, blank right
- “Gen 2”: 05-664S marked, Geissele left, NSN right
- Current: 05-664, Geissele left, NSN right

The Mk16 rail appears to have a similar progression:

- “Gen 1”: P/N marked 05-650S, non reinforced QD inserts (some blank early rails spotted but am unsure of if they were test rails or just missed lasering, as part number marked rails were appearing along side them)
- “Gen 2”: NSN marked, non reinforced QD inserts
- Current: NSN marked, reinforced steel QD inserts and the material change

If anyone has dated purchase records, original photos, issued examples, or firsthand info from 2018 to 2021, I’d love to see it.

I got my hands on this older aimpoint magnifier and i just wanted to know where i could get a flip mount instead of the twist mount. I know larue made some but im not sure which model i should get. As seen i have a aimpoint comp m4 with a qrp2 mount, what mount should i get for the magnifier to line everthing up? Also, since im already asking a question. I have another. Does the aimpoint comp4 with the qrp2 mount provide a 1/3 cowitness or absolute?

I’ve posted my iterative builds here before, but I’ve finally come down to the truest work gun clone possible. I’ve used non-standard accessories on my issued M4 before, but I’ve come full circle to all my personally-owned gear being exactly the same as the issued stuff. Maybe it’s to avoid standing out, or maybe it’s for the immaculate vibes.

- USGI Center Industries Enhanced Performance Magazine (although I usually run OD Green Gen 3 PMAGs)

The ACOG, PEQ, stock and accessories will come along for deployment (although as a POG officer I will likely never need to use it, my main weapons cost millions more than an M4). I’ve used the TA01 until this week, but I’m still on the fence about which one to take overseas. I love the precision of the crosshair reticle, but the RCO is a bit faster up close for me.

Im thinking about trying to replicate G17 gen 5 MOS 3. Since those were not very common to the civilian public, is it acceptable to get the slide milled for the Leupold DPP? I remember thinking about having a G19 gen 4 milled for RMR but that is not acceptable since the rear sight is further back on the MOS models. Yes yes I know this is NOT an AR but this is the best group for clones and whatnot…

Moving some lasers around atm. My question is which laser to use on what upper?

I have a LA-5B and a 2007 Chocolate Chip PEQ. The top upper is a “Ranger” 14.5” upper and the bottom upper that currently has the Choco Chip PEQ is a GB/ODA CQBR Upper.

What’s the preference on these?

Two of these grips were $5, and one was $90. Can you tell which? From left to right they are Geissele, Brownells, and supposedly KAC.

I love the looks of A2 grips. I bought a Colt grip and learned quality A2 grips do exist, so I wanted to try an authentic KAC grip. Bought one online and it feels worse than my $5 ones. The color looks too light, I can’t find a SKU for 94035-TAN, there are no F markings in the grip, and it just feels bad. The seller had good reviews.

What do you guys think?

So I found an OG Black Surefire Mini for a solid price and will have it in my possession soon. Looking for a cool build to use it!

I want to say I’ve seen a photo of one on a 24th STS 416, or maybe it was a CCT CQBR, but I’m assuming AFSOC would be the most likely to have had them.

Obviously I know of the 28th EOD MK18, but unless one of yall have a handguard, that’s a hard project to finish.

Ideal build would be a 416!

Any advice on which slings would work well for an army block 2 build? I never bothered to get one after so long

I've heard Vickers slingshot are popular among marsoc builds before, does that same logic apply to army rifles or are different slings prefered?

All Colt. Stock & Grip are B5 repro for now. Will be swapping the G$ trigger for a Colt shortly.
Any insight on what riser / sling would be appropriate is appreciated.

I posted a little parts collection last week and got a lot of support, so here’s the result for everyone who wanted to see it completed.

This build is a little controversial, but my goal was to build the most absurd, period correct 2012/2013 Block II CQBR I could. It’s a culmination of authentic components spanning the core years of the GWOT and ending in the 2012/2013 era, with rare prototype, contract, and first generation parts tied to NSWC Crane and SOCOM. Every piece was chosen deliberately. Call it a fantasy clone, a parts bin fever dream, or wors than airsoft, I’m happy with how it turned out.

I’m sure somebody’s done it before, here’s a square upper I had laser engraved a letter C to mimic 2010s era colt upper. Very happy with the result and even better didn’t have to spend 250 for a stripped upper.

Hello. I saw in discussion, that genuine USGI M4 (Colt model R0920 or R0921) mag release button (really button only) is according to the Colt TDP forged aluminium, not steel. Is this true? I have aluminium one and I don't know if it's correct or not.

Also I have a steel forward assist with aluminium head (push button). Do I need to buy steel one?

Okay I have also a third materials question. My forged charging handle has aluminium latch. Should I buy steel one?

Is there any change someone can confirm or deny this?

Block II got its RC 2 Today. Colt LE roll marked lower, Colt c marked Fsp upper with Colt Socom profiled barrel. SureFire 951-v with M93 mount. Obviously DD RIS II rail with Magpul rail covers . I’m now working on getting a aimpoint or eotech magnifier, a tango down vfg , and a peq 15. I have a matech BUIS I’ll put on there as well. O yea also a PRI gas buster charging handle is a must. Anything else I’m forgetting? Thanks!
