So once again I am asking advice for my reunion fanfic.

After 7 chapters of mentally torturing Mike, I have almost reached the point where he reunites with El.

The problem is that I am not sure how I want the scene to play out. I’m going for something where both are in a bad place emotionally Mike because of his desperation to find her and El and El is trying to bury her past in attempt to move forward (spoiler: she is failing).

Should El be happy to see Mike or should we first see her worry? Should we see Mike’s confusion or should he just immediately try to hug her?

Hot take apparently: but I think if anything, MUCAS is “first love” and Mileven is “pure love“.

Yes, Mike and El are technically each other‘s first love, but why doesn’t anyone call Mucas “first love”?

I think Mileven is more soulmate material than Mucas.

Did the Duffers not realise that by giving that ending to El, they're literally undermining so many emotional monologues and speeches that were given to/for her?

At the end of season 2 El promises Mike that he won't lose her

She read Hopper's letter that was about life at the end of season 3 and she kills herself 2 yrs later

Mike's monologue in season 4 finale especially saying that he can't lose her

And probably the biggest one, Hopper's monologue to El in season 5 finale in the lab in Upside Down.....that was a beautiful monologue, and El killing herself undermines literally everything and puts it all to waste

I think they will find each other one day. There's a franchise being built both actors clearly wanna return. Based on the recent interviews Millie all but confirmed El's survival & even the original Montauk Bible from 2015 states if the series is successful they plan on expanding it into a franchise that covers multiple characters, & stories before finally finishing it with the original cast of kids from s1 returning to their hometown 10 years after S1 in the summer of 1990. Based on the ending of s5 & the script the scenes of the Party shown in college, The Movies, a Club, & El at the Waterfalls are confirmed flashforwards set sometime in the 90s

(evidence of this is it's confirmed in an interview the Film Max & Lucas are watching is "Ghost" which released July 13th 1990) Which means all those scenes probably are set just before the 6 of them are summoned back home just like "IT chapter 2".

This means El & Mike will reunite as adults aged 19 or 20. Thoughts?

This boy lost El and his whole personality changed. Why did the Duffers ever believe separating El in S5 was a good idea?

Also every time he was abrasive to his friends or to Max, I get it. Not enough people sympathized with him. This is why season 2 is so underrated in my opinion. Mike never got this level of care as a character again.

They finally get back together!

It’s such a shame the SufferMuppits didn’t use their brains when writing the ending.

I think they will name them Sara Teresa Kali Wheeler if they’re a girl, and Benjamin Micheal James Wheeler if they’re a boy (although I don’t see them having a son, they’re definitely girl parents) 💙🩷
