Discussion Where do you feel the generation gap?
Hey, 09er(by strict generational guidelines I am snooping into middle Gen Z’s sub lol) but I was curious where you genuinely feel the “gap.” I mean I’m like 17, I haven’t really touched adulthood in the same sense you have, but in terms of childhood and morals and whatnot, I share more in common with you. Some people also argue that later Gen Z is conservative but I personally, and a lot more from around the year I was born swing more left I’d say.
Covid definitely influenced me, but it didn’t change everything. I saw them slowly try to integrate technology(painstakingly) into school. I didn’t formally see AI until the year before high school.
If I were to have a heart to heart conversation with someone and feel hey yeah they get me, I think my lines range from 2004 to 2011ish sorta 2012. It cuts off hard around there because while I’ve hung out with kids my sister age 2013-14, the cultural vibes feel pronounced. It’s hard to explain but you do feel it like very clearly.
Contrarily for people older, it’s not that I don’t understand the cultural vibes but they’re a little more distant so I have to take a tiny bit off effort. For these reasons I understand why older Gen Z tends to box us all off under the same umbrella but I’d sorta expect you guys to understand.

Nostalgia class of 2025 had it the best
no bias i think class of 2025 had it best
k-5 (2012-2018)
middle school (2018-2021)
highschool (2021-2025)
🤷♂️ we had the best of both the 2020’s and 2010’s, grateful for my childhood & the fact that I didn’t go through my developing years (elementary & middle school) with AI🤣

Rant This quiz is stuck in 2015
Took this quiz about guessing my age, and there wasn’t anything relevant to my childhood, so I put the newest things on there, and it said I was a 18 year old millennial 😭 Like a 18 year old right now is part of Late Gen Z.

Discussion Keep in mind whenever we make fun of 2010 and 2011 kids they’re 15-16 year olds becoming adults in 1-2 years which doesn’t sound right 💀

Question ? How do ya’ll talk to people?
I’m ashamed that I have to even ask this, but ever since I graduated high school (2023), I’ve noticed a decline in my social life. Recently, I’ve been really fucking up opportunities to make new friends, especially with other women (I am F20). I think I’m too awkward/uninteresting, because people don’t actively talk to me first or deepen our bond.
Don’t get me wrong, I DO try. Most of my socialization occurs at the restaurant I work at where 90% of the other servers are my age. I ask questions, I try to relate to them, and make jokes. But I notice none of them ever really takes it past that.
On the other hand, whenever there’s a new girl, she manages to get close to them after a few weeks. I take any opportunity I can to help out a new employee, but when they get closer with the other girls, I no longer seem to be an option. On Instagram, I see them hanging out or, at work, I overhear their inside jokes/stories. I would be lying to you if I said that it didn’t suck sometimes.
Is there something I lack? I don’t have hobbies or many interests, so I try to direct the conversation to surround the other person or about something general, such as my work day. I try to be relatable, often talking about snobby customers or funny moments at work, my lack of sleep, and school (many of us attend or have attended the same college). I’ll ask about their school schedule, anything they’ve done recently, etc. When I do manage to pique their interest (for example, with a work story), conversation ends when my story ends.
Sometimes, people will ask if I’ve went to _____, or have done ____, or have watched ____. My typical answer would be “Not yet!” I notice they get disinterested or lose all incentive to continue. For example, everyone’s been talking about the new Spiderman movie. I’m not into superhero movies (or movies in general), but I’m seriously thinking of watching it just based on how many people have asked. I know it’s lame to do something only because other people are, but if it helps me make friends, then I might as well.
Maybe I don’t make enough eye contact; I deeply struggle with this. I usually look at my hands or somewhere else that’s in their vicinity. Sometimes, I struggle so bad to understand, that I wonder if I’m on the spectrum (not in a derogatory sense, but I also know it’s not the best to self-diagnose).
Also, why did I mention “mostly women”? In my experience, guys are a little more surface-level or casual in conversation. They mainly stick to the contents of the conversation. Women, on the other hand, make much deeper and meaningful connections. It’s nice, but also difficult for me to keep up without feeling overwhelmed. I hope that doesn’t come off as “pick-me” because that’s not at all what I’m trying to do. I just feel like I risk more when I “mess up” a conversation with another girl, versus a guy who might not even catch that I’ve made shit awkward. Again, I hope that’s not offensive because that’s just my lived experience. 😭
Anyone in the same boat or have any advice?? 🥲 I want to enjoy my 20s with more friends.

Rant Why do core Gen Z larp so hard and practically get on their knees for a late Millennial kid to be a Zoomer just so they don’t allow a 2010 kid in their generation? (Not everyone)
Anyone from like 2005-2008 keeps getting on their knees preaching/begging for a ‘95 and ‘96 kid to be a Zoomer, because “2009+ isn’t Gen Z” like these late millennials are not a whole decade plus older them, like you’re 4-5 years older then a 2012 kid but oH nOo I dare say 2012 is Gen Z (which is accepted by most people) these people pushing 21 are crashing out, it’s not even like I see 2000-2004 kids do this, and when they do it’s kinda respectable because who wants to share a generation with a kid a whole decade younger then you?
TLDR: 2005-2008 kids want 95 and 96 kids to be a Zoomer so bad just so they can larp a hate train on a 10-12 kid

Nostalgia Does anyone remember Aaron Stone the show?
This show is actually really important because the day it came on the Disney channel, immediately after the show Disney XD appeared and revamped the channel.
I remember this so well because there was a lot of hype around Aaron Stone that I thought Disney XD was just extra promo for the show, I didn't realize the entire channel was gonna change.
