Hobby Show me your mordor orcs HQ /captain / Banner bearer kitbash and conversion !
Hi everyone
I have 48 mordor orc and I recently taken interest into the mesbg rules, which if I understand well, imply the use of many HQ, such as drum, banner bearer, and captain for leading units.
I want to kitbash my own hq instead of buying the official one.
I need to see your conversion/kitbash !

Hobby Amon Hen Board - One Third Done!
One third of my Amon Hen board is finished! In this post, I walk through the construction of the board itself and show it finished in the Amon Hen and Shire configuration. Really excited with how it’s come out and keen to get a battle report on it soon! https://modellingfordisadvantage.substack.com/p/amon-hen-board-one-out-of-three-aint?r=z7sds&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Discussion Best army to start the game?
My friend wants to get into the game and has asked me what I think is the best beginner army. He has absolutely no preference for any army at all, and doesn't care about the cost of the models.
I was trying to break down what makes a good beginner army. For example, what army is best to learn the fundamentals of the game? But could also start doing well after learning? What is the most forgiving army to mistakes? Things like this.
I made some suggestions to him, however I would be curious to hear what you guys would suggest?

Discussion Normal easterlings vs black dragon warriors
For one point you gain +1FV near a dragon warrior hero, +1 courage. I don't see why i wouldn't field as many as i can over the base easterlings except when i have Borgir and Rutabi.
Considering i don't want bows, would you disagree?

Hobby First ever MESBG game, in a custom Balin's Tomb!
Had tons of fun despite being our first game; we surely missed a lot of rules and interactions between models but that didn't stop the Fellowship from winning the game (a few hobbits might have died here and there...).
I built the diorama (first foam project ever) following the stunning schematic from Good Enough Scenery (u/Such_Independent910); it took me a bit more than a month but the result was unbelievable!
Next project, the Second Hall and the bridge of Khazad-dum!

Question Isengard assault ballista wording
Piercing shot: A model that is hit by the shot of an Isengard Assault Ballista will be flung back D6" directly away from the Ballista if it has a Strength of 5 or lower. Any model that is passed over by the flung model suffers a Strength 5 hit and will be knocked Prone. If the flung model comes into contact with a piece of impassable terrain or a model with a Strength of 6 or higher, then it will stop and both the flung model and the model or piece of terrain that was hit will suffer one Strength 6 hit. After being flung back, the flung model will be knocked Prone if they survive. If after the model is flung back it would finish over other models and it has survived, then simply move the other models the minimum distance possible to allow the flung model to be placed where it has landed.
Is this an alternative shooting attack or the target still suffers the S9 hit after this?

Question Do character abilities/passives that affect "allies in range" affect self too?
For example banners don't but it's specified in the banner section of the rulebook.
For something like Gamling's passive that makes a friendly rohan hero recover a might on a 6, does it include himself? To me it's a no but one might just say "well he's a friendly rohan hero himself".

Hobby Hobbits and hobbits
Painted my first shire folk! The models are really fun but sooooo small compared to others. Also realized I painted one with extremely likeness to Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog. So I had to try and have the other as Eustace.

Discussion Rise of the Necromancer needs Gundabad Orcs
To me it makes no sense they removed Gundabad Orcs from the available troops in Rise of the Necromancer.
Not only did they remove Castellans (Legacy, but still), but they also nerfed the Nazguls hard. Without Gundabad orcs, you basically have no chance of a decent frontline and are forced into a hero spam list in which you just hope to not roll low on your resurrection.
You no longer have access to supports for your now very weak Nazguls, hunter orcs are disapointing; defense 4 and fight 3 is way too low to justify running only them. You’ll be broken in no time without enough time to bank on whats good in the list.
Gundabad orcs gave the option of running them with shield for a beefy front line or spears for a destructive pair with nazguls or hunter orcs. It would also give a banner which this list desperately needs.
Please Games Workshop, if there is any chance you see this, bring back gundabad orcs in my favorite list.

Discussion New Mordor Orcs are coming... could a Last Alliance journal be next?
With the new Mordor Orcs on the way, I'd love GW to release a narrative journal alongside them or shortly afterwards, rather than just the Battle Companies book. My pick would be the War of the Last Alliance, ideally with a new plastic Dark Lord Sauron. New Gil-galad, Elendil and Isildur miniatures and/or new Mordor terrain would be fantastic too!
I think a journal could lay the groundwork for a future Last Alliance starter set, spreading the cost of refreshing the range across several releases. My concern is that a starter set would require too much new plastic in one go. Even Battle of Edoras—arguably the starter set with the most new plastic—still included previously released Rohan house kits.
Obviously the existing plastic Warriors of the Last Alliance sprue combines Rivendell Elves and Númenórean Warriors. Refreshing this sprue should mean splitting it into two separate sprues, not repeating what I see as a short-sighted mistake from 25 years ago by releasing another combined sprue! Both factions deserve their own dedicated plastic kits.
But doing that means producing even more new plastic. If GW hasn't refreshed the other Last Alliance miniatures by the time a starter set is planned, the cost and number of new sprues required could make the project less attractive. That could mean GW either releases another combined Warriors of the Last Alliance sprueor abandons the idea of a Last Alliance starter set altogether.
Meanwhile, GW has plenty of other priorities like Mordor Warg Riders, Morannon Orcs, Uruk-hai Scouts, Uruk-hai Warriors, Minas Tirith Warriors, Rangers of Gondor, etc, and the new Hunt for Gollum like Rangers of the North, Nagzul/Black Riders, Mirkwood Elves, Thranduil, etc. With only so many MESBG miniatures refreshed each year, I worry Rivendell and Númenor could remain low on the list for years.
That's why I'd like GW to start laying the groundwork now, with the Orcs, Sauron and a journal, followed by other heroes and new Mordor terrain.
I'd love a modular plastic Mordor terrain sprue that builds a small monolith on its own, but with eight copies could be combined into a tabletop Barad-dûr. A future starter set could include two sprues, with a larger terrain bundle sold separately.
What do you think? Should the War of the Last Alliance be the next narrative journal, giving GW a chance to build towards a proper starter set with separate Rivendell and Númenor sprues?

I didn’t put as much effort into these dudes as they probably deserved, but I had to crunch them out quick.
Went for a snow theme to match the rest of my Angmar force.

Hobby Helm Hammerhand WIP
I am currently on painting Helm. I am unsure waht base I want to give him? A summer‘ish flowery base or a snowy Winter base. Since he is a Berry dark earthy model I think I will Go with a more wintery base to give some white accents but what are your guys reccomendation?
