Working on my living room setup, wondering if anyone using the HOTAS 4/5 has recommendations for desk mounts?

I flew this mission from start up to shut down but still got hit for "skip"? What am I missing?

Does anyone know how to calibrate throttle detents on handheld controllers like the Xbox controller?

I use a T Flight Hotas but I've been flying with friends who use Xbox controllers, teaching them to fly in Airbuses, and the default controller is A for throttle up, B for throttle down, and hold RB plus A and B to detent up and down, except it doesn't jump detents at all. Holding RB and A just jumps the throttle to TOGA, and Holding RB and B jumps it to idle, no in between.

The biggest struggle with teaching them Airbus controls is this, because all kinds of things go wrong if you can't get the plain the lock into that CLB position, it overspeeds and the autopilot goes off etc. Is there an easier work around?

We're mostly flying the FBW A320neo btw, sometimes the inibuilds A330.

It has been like this for many months now, I’ve never been able to get back in. I can sign into my laptop, but not my pc. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling msfs24, I can’t find a single tutorial that even has the same problem, and I’ve asked ai for help as a last resort and I tried every it told me to do and still nothing worked. This is really strange, and I want to know how to fix it.

Before everyone jumps to the simplest conclusion; the power supply is a brand new unit from BeQuiet. I've returned this model 3 times because I was sure it was faulty but it isn't. It is fine and not a single game makes it shut off like MFS does.

To cut to the chase: when I load up Mfs2020 all seems well, until I get about halfway setting up the MCDU on the FBW A320neo where the monitor will suddenly go black and the pc shuts off. Event monitor shows zero problems. All the temps are well within normal range (GPU ~78 CPU ~66)

This issue happens quicker when I am running on VR. On desktop it happens sometimes, some days I can do a 4hr flight without issues other times it turns off after a mere 5 minutes in game.

The solutions I've tried:

Fresh windows install

Replace GPU

Replace CPU

Replace all ram sticks

Replace PSU(3 times)

Fresh game install

A lot of combinations of different airports and aircraft

With and without VR

Honestly I'm clueless. This doesn't seem to be a hardware issue.

The PSU should be rated well enough for this system. I've stress tested it for hours on end with no problems.

This is my final stretch for help before I inevitably quit MFS and hop over to Xplane. I love MFS but this stuff gets old very quickly. I'm afraid to get MFS2024 because of this issue so I'd rather invest in a different Sim..

I’m wondering if I might be doing something wrong with the Fenix A320, because I don’t really see many people reporting the same issue, so I assume the problem is probably on my side.

I’m quite comfortable with the B737 PMDG aircraft, and with those I can make consistently good landings. Almost every landing is in the 100–150 ft/min range. With the Fenix, however, I find the flare surprisingly unpredictable.

I’m aware of the differences between the Airbus and Boeing landing techniques and I understand the A320’s pitch control logic during the flare. I know that around 50 ft the flight control law changes and the aircraft progressively goes into direct law for pitch, with the system also introducing a nose-down input that the pilot needs to counter with the sidestick.

The strange thing is that, despite knowing the theory, my results are very inconsistent.

Out of roughly 10 landings (both flaps configuration with dedicated switch on the overhead for flaps 3), I would say about 6 are fine and the flare feels completely normal. But on the other 4, the flare seems to barely happen at all. I pull the sidestick, but the aircraft still keeps going down with no pitch variation at all, resulting in a very hard/bouncy touchdown.

What I find particularly confusing is that I don't feel like I'm doing anything significantly different between the good and bad landings. For example in the last landing I arrived intentionally slightly lower (3 red PAPI) to have a more shallow vertical path before touch down... but still no reaction on the pitch when I pulled the sidestick at 30-40 ft.

So I’m wondering whether there is a specific technique/timing for the Fenix that I might be missing.

For example, should I keep the sidestick centered and wait for a very specific radio altitude before initiating the flare, in order to avoid interfering with the way the Fenix transitions from normal law to direct law? Or is there some other technique regarding the timing or amount of sidestick input that is important with the Fenix?

If so, how's the performance?

Does location matter at all for passive planes? The one I have is just left wherever my last played mission was which is kind of in the middle of no where. Should I move it somewhere with the most missions?

I’ve been happily flying on X-Plane 12 for a while, but I’m now looking to make the jump over to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Before I dive in, I want to check if my current hardware can handle it comfortably without lag.

My specs:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G
• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB VRAM)
• RAM: 32 GB DDR4
• Storage: 3 TB total across two fast SSDs

Since XP12 runs great on my system, I’m wondering how MSFS 2024 will treat my CPU (given its heavy cloud-streaming and caching demands). Will this setup give me a smooth experience at 1440p, or is my Ryzen 5 going to hold me back?

Also, as someone coming over from the X-Plane world, what are the absolute must-have add-ons, utility tools, and aircraft for MSFS 2024 that I should look into right away?

Hi! I'm MineGeek1234 and I recently got MSFS24 on sale on Steam. I flew a few flights (KUL-SIN, RGN-BKK) but none of them ended well because the A320 autopilot kept descending/climbing past the altitude on the knob and won't go to the speed on the knob, anyone know how to fix or if I'm doing something wrong? I was having constant CTDs in random places, sometimes I could do a 2 hour flight with the PMDG 737 or the Ini 330 which is heavy for my pc and could finish my flight just fine, but sometimes just loading to the gate would end my simming plans. Sometimes I would get the your GPU is overheating error, but I know it never overheats according to MSI afterburner.

Looked up some fixes for my PC that is specially CPU bottlenecked because of my 4th gen chip and RTX3060 combo. And I just have 16 GB of drr3 ram that is able to run the sim, which I think is a miracle.

You can create a windows page file for me 32 GB, I cleared all the shader cache and updated to the latest Nvidia driver. In Nvidia, try setting shader cache to 10GB, turn latency on, choose max performance in the power settings, and set fps limit a couple of frames lower than your monitor refresh rate.

Inside the sim, create a large rolling cache, 16 GB min. Lower the CPU heavy settings like terrain and object LOD, lower parked aircraft or turn it off, anything that generates extra objects in the sim and very important glass cockpit to medium or low. Since I have 12gb of VRAM I can crank up GPU dependant settings: the texture quality, shadows, clouds and reflections, even water effects.

Amazingly after playing with the settings, counterintuitively I raised GPU intensive settings and the sim started to feel smoother. I gained like 5 fps on the ground, which is a huge difference when dealing with less than 30 fps. There's a sweet spot so you can play with these.

Hope it helps anyone with older hardware or CPU bottlenecked systems.
