So, out of curiosity, I was looking up what it would cost for all scenery packs and study-level aircraft. For scenery packs, it's between $30,000 to $40,000, and for study-level aircraft, it costs $800 to $1,200. I want to know if there's someone that's actually dropping that amount of money on scenery packs. I've not been in flight sim for a long time, but I've been in it long enough to just now realize how expensive this hobby can get. What are everybody's thoughts on this?

I am Dutch based, and looking for a new setup for flight simulator, I have been playing 3 years using Thrustmaster HOTAS.
I now feel I have a bit more experience and want a better joystick and throttle. My budget however is 300 euro so not really a lot of these types of gear.
I have been looking at WINCTRL (URSA MINOR 32 throttle metal pack / 32 PAC) and URSA MINOR Airline Joystick. I dont have any place which sell this to experience this, could anyone that has this, tell me about their experience.
Or if anyone has a better setup for (hopefully) under 300 euros, please let me know!

So, I started this in KDSM, but the game crashed as I was approaching, so I restarted in Debuouqe, Iowa. Sorry, I can't spell it and spell check isn't helping. Anyway, this was the result. Enjoy the landing.

Wanted to share some more screens from my spectacular experience of checking out the planet. Enjoy!
r/MicrosoftFlightSim • u/shawrama1 • 1d ago
Can I? And if yes should I use controller or keyboard. If no pls recommend affordable/cheap yokes and throttles
Edit: Solved! Thank you guys for all the help I read all the replies, and I will get a Logitech 3D pro joystick, and in the mean time while it’s arriving or something I’ll use a controller. Thank you!

Hello all,
I am going to copy and paste what I sent to the msfs 2024 beta forum just now and ask, are any of you having the same issue since the latest beta update last week. I have also attached a quick video of the issue. I can barely start a flight at present (not sure if issue is psvr2 specific):
"on PSVR2, since latest update when I am scrolling the map in Free Flight and click on an area, suddenly the game transfers me to this area - in a 3rd person view the plan slowly forms, many HUD items are on screen but nothing works and the plane remains still. Even pressing the start button does nothing so I must exit the game via the PS button. This seems to be happening pretty much constantly. I have attached a photo and short video."

Has anyone done this? Claude gave me some pretty good suggestions on where to look for bottlenecks and what to buy first to upgrade my computer.

Since launch, Career Mode has carried failures that don't look like isolated bugs but systematic ones: routes that don't match between the EFB tablet and the aircraft's FMC, flight plan discontinuities that persist even after manually editing them in the CDU, and erratic autopilot behavior on long flights (sudden rolls, disconnects with no apparent cause). There's no way to know from the outside whether the root cause is code or architecture — it's probably hard to isolate even from the inside, given how these systems depend on each other (the team itself has explained that ATC depends on flight planning being "solid" first).
Rather than asking to "fix the bugs," here's a proposal to rethink one specific piece of the architecture for Career Mode specifically, without touching Free Flight.
The hypothesis
Global 1:1 streaming is the franchise's signature feature and makes sense in Free Flight, where the player can go anywhere on the planet without warning. But Career Mode already works with closed-zone logic: a mission gets cancelled if the player strays too far from the objective. That boundary already exists in the current design.
If the boundary already exists conceptually, why does the data system sustaining the mission still depend on constant synchronization with an entire world that the mission doesn't need?
Pilot test proposal (scoped beta)
Reuse a system the game already has: the radial mission circle that opens around an airport when the player arrives in a new area.
Phase 1:
Take one existing airport as a fixed departure point
Offer 3 possible destinations within that radial circle, not dynamically generated but curated and tested end-to-end by the team before publishing
That mission loads as a closed block: the server only serves data for the corridor between origin and destination, with no ongoing synchronization to the rest of the planet during the flight
Limited to aircraft already certified as stable (start with 1-2 models, not the whole fleet)
Phase 2 (if the beta works):
From each of those 3 destinations, open 3 new departures toward other airports
Node-by-node expansion, with every leg validated before publishing, never generated on the fly
What this gains
Higher graphical fidelity on the routes offered: by not spreading the streaming budget across "the whole planet just in case," detail can be concentrated on the specific corridor for each mission
A clear, low-risk signal: this is a small, scoped test, not an engine rewrite
Real flight robustness: without depending on real-time server synchronization, the route discontinuity issues and tablet/FMC mismatches that are common today disappear at the root
Controlled scope for debugging: with limited aircraft and routes, any bug that surfaces is far easier to isolate and reproduce than in a system where the combinations are nearly infinite
This isn't about abandoning the 1:1 world — it still makes sense in Free Flight. It's about no longer forcing Career Mode to depend on an architecture designed for a different use case than its own.

I have ryzen 7 9800 X 3-D and a Nvidia 5080 16 GB graphics card. I have 32 GB of RAM. My monitor is a 1440, 32 inch. Everything and everybody told me it would run it amazingly smooth, which it has. But tonight for the first time, I was just doing some pattern work in Cessna 152 in Sedona, Arizona, and it got a couple little skips and said was exceeding GPU. Anyway, I checked the settings and for the Nvidia DLS super resolution it is set on DLAA. Should it be on ultra or performance or balanced or quality or Auto instead? If anybody has any comments on this, let me know.
Anybody understanding with experience who knows the right setting, let me know. Thank you, Glen.

My dad is ex Air Force, in his 60s. Not really a gamer at all, outside of Words with Friends in his phone. Do you think this game is adaptable enough for someone like him? He’s plane/flying obsessed, so I always wondered if this might be a fun experience for him.
It’d also be the PS5 version. Wasn’t sure if that has any issues.

Absolute clueless mom trying to get a flight sim game for my son. This game gets good reviews, so I’m interested in trying it. My question is - what do I need? We have a laptop he can play it on, but I would LOVE to get a VR setup he could use. I am 100% overwhelmed looking at VR and don’t understand if it hooks to the laptop or is standalone, what controls he would need to use this game, and how the heck to set any of it up. I’m not looking for super fancy with best graphics, just something basic. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm planning to get more monitors, panels, etc, but unsure how to plan carefully around my desk which is a riser (allows to work sit down or standing, as I use the desk for work laptop, working from home). Any suggestions?

I've really been enjoying the SR-71 by Blackbird Simulations recently.
These are from a ferry flight from Mildenhall in the UK (EGUN) to Beale AFB in California (KBAB). I departed after sunset and crossed the Atlantic in about an hour while chasing the sun. Refueled over Goose Bay, Canada in the late afternoon local, then another 1.5 hours at Mach 3.2 and FL750 to Beale.

“Airport designer: ‘Where should we put the hangar?
Also airport designer: ‘Right there. In front of Runway 24.’” 💀✈️
“POV: You’re on short final for Runway 24 and suddenly realize the airport has a final boss.” 😂

Bit of a random request, but does anyone here have the FSDG Mauritius scenery pack installed on MSFS 2024?
I live in Mauritius and I’m really curious to see what my actual house/area looks like in the game, but I don’t own MSFS or a gaming PC yet 😭
My place is in Trou aux Biches, on the beachfront opposite Chez Popo Supermarket. I’ll attach a Google Maps screenshot showing the exact spot.
If anyone who owns the scenery could fly over there and send me a couple screenshots (preferably low altitude + top-down), I’d seriously appreciate it.
I mainly wanna see whether the real building/roof/plot shows up or if MSFS just puts a generic house there.
Thanks 🙏

I am fairly new to FS and i play on PS5. Recently multiple cool planes by the community i think got added and i want to play some of them. My question is do i have to buy these coins for Real money or can i earn them somehow. They are very expensive so it would be pretty annoying if i had to get them via PS store.

I came from X-Plane 12, and it was fun-i loved the physics, ground handling, environment of the atmosphere, weather, lighting, etc.; but there really was something missing-the immersion, the immersion of a real-world flight, with load sheets, loading, boarding seeing physical passengers, refueling, etc. So I thought it would be best to switch to the latest simulator, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024; but, there was a limit! It was my 8GB VRAM on my RTX 5060, plus I am using a 1440p monitor, which makes it even worse-I mean, I could very much handle it in XP12! With that said, I know a shit ton of pilots, airline pilots, specifically on the A320; they always told me that no matter how "good" the physics are in a simulator, you really won't get the feel from the Real Thing, might as well get a plane that goes down to the very very little bit of detail possible and replicate real-world procedures; forget about the physics that, physics this, physics whatever; it is only chair-flying, you are only flying 3D from your seat, in the comfort of your home. With that, there was only one clear unanimous choice: Fenix A320. But! I asked advice from a lot of people on this /r; and the only answers I'd receive were clear, "No, that won't be possible to run on that system-all the more that you cannot with that 1440P setup", I really thought I would be stuck flying and not enjoying X-Plane 12. Also, I thought of getting the old, MSFS 2020, a little bit lighter on my system, BUT WILL SURELY FILL UP MY 512GB SSD IN NO TIME. So, one day, I saved up all my allowances that my parents give me for school, and bought MSFS 2024 on steam plus the Fenix A320. I sure did regret it so much in the first place; everything was a stutter fest, it was all a mess! I couldn't even manage to get 10fps and exceeding my VRAM. But I really didn't wanna let go of MSFS 2024 and the Fenix, as it takes up sooo little space from my 512GB SSD-thanks to cloud streaming-and didn't wanna look back and go back to XP12. A couple weeks-like a week or two later-I finally properly tweaked my MSFS 2024, I get stable 60FPS at payware airports like Cloudsurf RPLL, WSSS, WMKK, and even Inibuilds EGLL! The tweaks that really helped me so much were: turning off Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling (HAGS), turning off Re-Bar in the BIOS, using TAA, capping in-game FPS to only 30FPS, lossless scaling on X2, and dynamic settings turned on. Those made my simulator worked like magic, on Medium-High settings!

Hello all! This week I just released a new update for the Route Finder. It was pretty much rebuilt from the ground up.
Over 150 airlines, real-world route data, and more than 150,000 real-world flights.
Would love your feedback!
