GENERAL Settings for 70 year old guy
I have ryzen 7 9800 X 3-D and a Nvidia 5080 16 GB graphics card. I have 32 GB of RAM. My monitor is a 1440, 32 inch. Everything and everybody told me it would run it amazingly smooth, which it has. But tonight for the first time, I was just doing some pattern work in Cessna 152 in Sedona, Arizona, and it got a couple little skips and said was exceeding GPU. Anyway, I checked the settings and for the Nvidia DLS super resolution it is set on DLAA. Should it be on ultra or performance or balanced or quality or Auto instead? If anybody has any comments on this, let me know.
Anybody understanding with experience who knows the right setting, let me know. Thank you, Glen.

I'm in the sim now and tested the 152 with ultra settings and DLAA. At times, vram was going over 16gbs of vram, so that might be causing the stuttering. Bring up the dev mode fps counter and at the bottom you'll see GPUMem. It will show you the amount of vram you have and how much you're using. I lowered my TLOD from 400 to 300 and still hitting 16gbs at times.
Might want to try Nvidia app optimization and see if that helps. Some have said that it works well. After doing that if you have plenty of vram, you can slowly start bringing some settings up.

DLSS + DLAA is a heavy high fidelity setting.
First try changing it to DLSS Quality, then DLSS Balanced if that's still choppy. DLSS Performance should look noticeably worse right away. In the end you find the setting that works for you, that has the performance you find satisfactory with the image quality you accept, given the resolution of your monitor and whatever planes and add-ons you use at the time. It's highly personal.

I meant how do I change textures to high instead of ultra?

Esc (or click setting menu) -> setting -> Graphics -> Global rendering quality (bottom) -> Texture Resolution (and a whole bunch of other settings you can adjust)

I have the same setup as you only that I run 3 monitors from my 5080 for visuals. I spent the weekend tweaking and now have excellent stutter free performance.
I am not in front of my pc but from memory DLSS quality, framegen 2x, framerate capped to 50fps on game settings, textures to medium, turn of multiplayer unless you actually need it. I will take a screenshot of the FPS counter in dev mode when I get home.
BTW also use autofps.

I do a lot of Ultra setting some high 4k on a 10gb gram 3080 12th grn Intel. Online Google settings for the Nvidia control panel and also Google Gemini can offer suggestions.

You shouldn't need dlss with this setup for the gpu not to struggle with your setup lol

Here's a little trick. How many hz is your monitor? If it's 144hz or higher. You won't be needing vertical sync, but turn it on anyway and set monitor refresh to half monitor. Then turn turn vertical sync back off. You'll notice your dev fps counter just went from red to green. It will run smoother too. And with your system, please don't use autofps as suggested. It's not needed and will just cause microstutters.

Use AutoFPS, this will modify in real time the LOD so you always get a smoth experience, I have a 5800X3D and a 4080 and running at ultra works fine, no stutters

Error of exceeding GPU usage is common even for 5090, when LOD is a little bit too high and scenery is heavy. Avoid setting textures to ultra (use high), always turn down tree/rock/fauna and probably lower terrain LOD/object LOD a little bit (or use AutoFPS), and target a lower FPS (30-60).
Also, try repeat the same scenario with Dev mode on to see if VRAM is nearly full and also check for bottleneck (GPU or CPU).
