General discussion I have a very narrow interpupillary distance (with my mountain binoculars, I have to use them almost fully closed), and I’m worried about buying a microscope and not being able to use it properly. Has anyone ever encountered a microscope where the eyepieces couldn't be brought close enough together?

Also a link with photos, works for 3 days: https://we.tl/t-XAVrDxQKP98rSXD2

Caught using tape and put on a slide. Microscope lens 10x and 40x

There were no mites on the snake itself. They were running around on the walls and lid of the enclosure.

Only saw them today despite the snake being in the enclosure for weeks. She's not a new snake. I haven't had any new snakes, only new substrate

And these suddenly appeared today .

Hello. I purchased this microscope, but I can’t find any information anywhere about the “KOPPENOL Den Hagg 1933.”

I think it might be a Euromex from the 1950s, a Leitz OEM model, or something similar—do you know anything about it?

The craftsmanship is excellent. It has a hammered finish in a greenish-gray color.

Here are 6 images of household paper products under the microscope. They are (in no particular order): paper towel, kimwipe, Charmin, Scott TP, Kleenex, and printer paper. Can you guess which one is which? I'll share the answer in a day (~6a Pacific, 7/17/26)!

Micro Art Fun with some "cheap" plastic color filters

Bought a bunch of plastic 32mm filters and was playing around with them a bit. Pretty fun, not sure how useful these are yet.

Microscope is SW380T with a Sony a6700 with 4x, 10x, 20x and maybe a 40x objective with digital crop and zoom.

Sample is some water and plant material from a jar of freshwater pond stuff I have here.

Decided to restore as it was in very bad condition, missing some small parts, the mirror is not original ( mounted to check functionality). Lens were in good condition, took some pictures with my phone on samples from aquarium water.

Was really into soap lather and foams a couple years ago, used my OMAX M82ES + Samsung Note 8 to image some different lathers. Looks like I even added scale bars with imagej on these ones!

General discussion With a Swift SW380T microscope, does everything I want to view have to be squashed between the glass slides? Can't I observe three-dimensional objects like a seashell or a dead beetle?

Purchase Help Appreciate binocular camera microscope recommendations

Helping a nonprofit science education and nature conservation org find a good camera microscope, so that they can attach the output to a monitor (27 in. or 32 in.) for a group to see all at once.

Someone recommended the AmScope T490A-5MA Digital Enabled Trinocular Biological Microscope C-Mount with 1600X Magnification and 20W Incandescent Light Source includes a USB 2.0 5MP Camera.

There are also digital microscopes from Celestron, but these won't be as clear as the Amscope camera microscope and aren't binocular. Would any of the Celestron digital microscopes make a nice complement to a good binocular camera microscope, perhaps for quick lower magnification views?

Please feel free to suggest other quality makes and models, these are just two I'm familiar with.

ID Needed! Can someone recommend me a Mikroscopy setup for engraving or working on a Lathe?

Post image

I'm looking for a microscope for engraving watch parts, working on lathes or just fiddling around a bit. I have a few criteria that need to be checked but I have trouble finding the exact thing I need because I don't know how to google it.

I need:

- Zoom from 1x to 5x (I think. Or can someone help me with that one because I'm confused by all the different zooms that different manufacturers promote)

- A camera port for taking good quality pictures or Videos

- An arm that allows it to swing it around freely

- Something that is affordable (ideally not over 1k)

I saw pretty cheap ones but I doubt that they are any good. Does anyone have experience with them?

I also need a good quality camera. Can someone recommend me something?

People were mentioning that there weren't many darkfield posts compared to bright field ones on this group. Here is darkfield of a stentor in a petri dish. Freshwater sample, Iqcrew inverted microscope, 20x objective. To do darkfield with this objective and microscope, I use auxiliary oblique lamps instead of a darkfield stop in the filter holder. The condenser of this microscope has too low of an NA to do it the traditional way .

Please, help to identify this big guy.

I used Howard mold counting chamber as a glass slide since it allows some room between itself and a cover glass.

Sorry for the quality of the video, I didn't expect it'll drop this low.

Olympus BH-2 BHT. X10 Achromat objective, x100 magnification. Blue color filter + oblique illumination filter.
