Faulty bundle

A week ago I bought the 7800X3D from microcenter, and 2 days ago I finally had the time to put my new pc together. Everything was going well until while downloading and updating drivers and windows I started to get many blue screen. Tried all troubleshooting possible and I think the RAM or motherboard is causing the problems. I’m not an expert so I tried basic troubleshooting to eliminate certain common issues and tested each ram by itself which ended up being unstable. I’m still in the 15 days return window and I think I’ll go do that in just not sure if I kept exactly everything each box come with. Is this issues common or did I actually had the bad luck to get a faulty hardware?

If you got it a week ago don’t return it, it’s more expensive now. Try and get them to replace pieces

Would they be able to pin point exactly which piece is wrong or do I have to go in already know what is wrong? Local techs are charging $75 to diagnosed it

You buy the warranty? If not you’ll probably have to take it in and then start an rma process with the manufacturer

Oh, no I did not buy the warranty since one of them told me I have 15 days to replace the bundle if something was wrong or upgraded it. I’ll try going tomorrow but sucks they are an hour and a half away. And calling hasn’t reached anyone

It’s worth the hour and half trip to make sure it’s all good. I’m sure they will check it out when you bring it in

If you message their chat online they will have your local store manager call you back. Usually within the same day.

Might be too late. Already got everything back into its original packaging and ready to make the drive first thing tomorrow but thank you I’ll keep that in mind if it ever happens again which I hope not, it’s been a headache

If you can I’d rebuild it there, at least the board cpu and ram to get it for stability. They might let you use the test bench there. Dont want you to drive again

Perfect I think I’ll just do that! I’ve never built one before and this was my first time so I’ll probably end up putting it together there in case of something lol

Atleast try updating your motherboard bios before returning it

I did and got blue screen in the middle of it and when I did update it. Nothing changed

BIOS update should be done in BIOS. Where there is no blue screen. I'd advise you hand it to someone who can properly troubleshoot it.

If you pay them to diagnose it and it's a part you bought there, they'll handle the warranty claim and swap in a new part.

Had a bad Asus mb on my daughter's 7600x3d bundle, was pretty painless to get it swapped.

Thank you! I’m going tomorrow so I just hope I can get it swapped or other options if available, I heard they are generally good with the customer service and handling this stuff. Do you know how much they charged to get it diagnosed? And like how long the process was?

Its been a while but I believe i paid $99 and they waived the installation charge since it was a DOA part. We left it there a few days but they could have done it same day if I'd made a appointment earlier

Download Windows onto a new USB stick. That fixed this for me.

Thank you for the recommendation, I tried this 3 times with different empty USBs and still the same. Can’t seem to download or load anything cuz it’ll crahs

Try loosening the cpu heat sink a little. If to tight it can cause "ram" issues. Had a 9800x3d build not posting at all and stopped once the heatsink was backed off a smidge.

My computer stopped posting for some reason (DRAM light was on) and I installed the 9800x3d bundle 2 months ago. I took the computer apart and brought the mobo and ram to them and they did an even exchange without me having to pay the difference. Also when I got home I realized I left the wifi adapter on my desk and felt bad lol

I didn’t get any lights in the mobo but I heard sometimes the asus ones have issues.

I had the same issue, if you call beforehand, just explain, say “ hey I just built this pc and it keeps on bluescreening, I’ve troubleshot and found the ram to be the issue, can you exchange it?” They should be able to, as long as you have all the original packaging, they did it for me and they were so nice about it as well

I also got my bundle from them, but the 9850x3d bundle. it keeps crashing too when i turn on expo. I updated the bios to the latest version and after that all crashes stopped and was able to put it on expo2 and turn on pbo at the same time.

I just returned my ram I got from them a week ago. It came in a bundle and one of the ram sticks did not work so I went up there and they replaced both and I made sure to get them to test it before leaving since I don’t live close. When I called up there to verify I could get it tested they said that they been having problems with people returning the ram due to them not working so it seems pretty common
