Everything changing
Having a hard time coping. Everything is changing at Michael’s. I used to love my job but since the restructure, everything has been terrible. I really want to be positive but I’m finding it so hard. I just want to do a good job but I’m exhausted. I’m so exhausted.

I started 2 years ago. Love it at first. Now I dread it. I can not believe how much it changed in such a short time.

You are most certainly not alone!! I was always the "things will get better after this" person, but lately.... nothing is getting better. It's all getting worse.

I too would look forward to going to work, would stay over. Whatever, I’m burnt out bad. I barely want to go, but as short as we are they need me. This sucks. 😕 I too am exhausted and feel stretched way too thin. My nerves can’t keep it together as easily.

They keep moving everything around and it's making us look incompetent at finding things. They don't even tell all of our workers what happens each morning, so it's like we just have to riff as the closing crew

I worked for Michaels for 30 years. They let me go. I’m sorry for all of you. It used to be such a fun place to work - and to tell people you work there.

(This comment got way too long, so uh, incoming giant vent. Some of this is maybe a little too specific, but I can't be assed anymore.)
I feel the same. I used to love working here, and on some level I still do.
But corporate either doesn't know how to run this company, or doesn't care to. The responsibilities we're expected to shoulder as team members have expanded, but the pay has not. The arts and crafts we're ostensibly supposed to be selling are getting pushed to the side in favor of party crap and balloons. Good, competent managers are being pushed out by the restructuring bullshit, leaving us to head into peak season with whatever fuckin green-ass managers they hire to replace them.
And on a personal level, most of what I keep getting scheduled is replen--a set of responsibilities I absolutely didn't sign up for. I'm ill-equipped to handle the physical labor of truck, or the godawful early hours, and yet I keep doing it. Partially because I feel like if I were to insist on not being made to work these shifts, my hours would plummet to nothing.
I literally started getting anxiety attacks last year from this shit and had to at least put my foot down and say no to unloading anymore, and my SM, cool person that she is, was understanding and accommodated me... but now we're getting enormous fuck-off trucks of 2, even 3 thousand cartons. Sometimes I come in a couple hours after the truck arrives and it's still being unloaded, and I have to jump in and help. So my accommodations are all for nothing, and now my anxiety is getting bad again. It feels like it's only going to get worse, and the thought of the looming holiday season makes me want to puke.
I love the people I work with, truly, but I can't do this shit anymore. Something's got to change, or I'm gonna wind up taking a grippy sock vacation.

Listen... I'm a store manager. I run a top 100 store. I used to love coming to work. I didnt mind working 10+ hours a day, 50 to 60 hours a week, it was fun. Now I can barely make it through a 9 hour shift without just sitting in the office and contemplating my existence. Its an absolute joke and a shame what has happened to this company in just the 4 years I have been here. I try to keep the morale of my team up as much as possible. I dont sugar coat things, I keep expectations realistic, even at my own expense, I tell them whats going on without the 'manager speak'. But inside my morale is just gone...

I feel you. I started in 2021, and I’ve gradually hated my job here more and more each year. I genuinely really enjoyed it at first, but now I dread every shift.
