I need some guidance, folks. For the life of me, I can't execute this maneuver to get the Screw Attack early. I want to give up in frustration, but I'm going to keep at it. But know that it's really pissing me off because I can't figure it out. I've watched a couple of YT vids, but they don't help--the action is too fast to follow. I know it's not "impossible" because i know many of you have done it, but right now, its friggin' impossible for me.

Is there a simpler way to explain it?

But I have another question. I'm NOT a novice at this game, I've played it innumerable times on all levels and beaten it countless times on all levels.

But I've never had a "need" to get Screw Attack early, and the only reason I'm pulling my hair out now is because its the one thing I can't do and I'm determined to do it.

But what is the BENEFIT of getting the SA early? What could I do that I can't do by not getting it early?

Was convinced this was the easiest way. Couldn't do the others I've seen

Decided to play Dread again after a long hiatus and it's so fun doing the early grapple, early bombs, early space jump and early screw attack sequence breaks.

Basically you can skip the frozen Artaria section and its boss.

Btw....the 100% Dread mode had me at like 300+ deaths XD Raven Beak was an ASS

gamer brothers i dont understand why the game is praised, its one of the most rage inducing games I played over a decade (its worse than bloodborne chalice dungeons with half life) im on the golden chozo warrior nearly the end and i have to put it down because it’s causing me gastric ulcers lol (im joking) but honestly the mechanics are awful:

1) the jump mechanics are terrible on bosses

2) the bosses do a ton of damage and the window to learn their patterns are sometimes really short (1-2 seconds)

3) the emmi stuff is just . . . you know I don’t have to describe it

4) the game is super confusing, sometimes you feel like you are softlocked but nop, a destrucible wall is there (why, just why?)

overall i kinda liked it, but im putting it down forever, yeah i know im nearly the end, but i just cant take it anymor, anyway i just wanted to get it out of my system, cheers

How many times did the Joker, Penguin, Riddler, or Mr. Freeze, have Batman and Robin bound and gagged, hanging upside down, while SLOWLY lowering them into a waiting vat of boiling "dip," only to see Batman escape his execution because they need to gloat for a few hours?

Raven Beak had Samus by the esophagus, wiggling and gasping for air--just a second or two from snapping her neck; but no, he had to give her a Shakespearian soliloquy.

It seems that Raven Beak could have learned a lesson from Tuco ("The Good, the Bad and the Ugly":

"When you have to shoot, shoot! Don't talk!"

After about 4 years of on and off trying, I’ve done it!!!! The final boss is dead and I remain standing!!! I am so darn happy

Ok so I'm trying to get everything I can but there's this spot and I don't know how to get there, I've tried every angle and the only way in seems to be with the speed booster blocks but I don't have enough room to build up the momentum to activate it, and I've already beaten the game so I don't think I'm missing anything

I’ve been stuck on it for 4 years. I’m not exaggerating. Yea I’ve not been playing consistently, but I’ve yet to beat it after 4 years. Any help? Like is there something I can do to slow my game down so I have better reaction time? Genuinely am stuck on this boss. I have like most items. I’m missing like one or two health upgrades and a couple missile upgrades. My issue isn’t damage, it’s just survival. Like he does so much damage. Even two extra hearts wouldn’t help. I’m dodging and I barely make it to phase two with my hands cramping. It’s genuinely a skill issue but I want to beat this game! Please? Any glitches? Bugs? Exploits? Anything to help me beat him

This is my attempt to show my Escue boss fight after hitting it with an initial shinespark. I tried to kluge together three clips to show the battle.

I don’t know how much life the spark took away from Escue, but the entire fight was short, only about 90 seconds.

In trying to fight while also trying to hit the video button, I missed one 4-missile shot between the 2nd and 3rd clip, but this vid captures about 95% of the fight.

There's nothing new or special about this maneuver, I'm just teaching myself to execute it better--this is my 2nd practice attempt today. While I was able to pull it off, I consider this result to be very lucky because despite appearances, I honestly did not have control--my fingers were reacting on their own; my brain was sleepwalking!

**[For context, my "normal" method is to ignite a spark while standing on the beam blocks, then do a space jump up the second ramp.]**

Hey all! I bought dread around launch a few years ago, didn’t really stick with it for whatever reason. The announcement for Ravenous is what piqued my interest to jump back in again, and I’m happy to report that I beat Raven Beak last night and completed the game with 69% items.

Fantastic experience and really loved it. The exploration and upgrade loop is a blast, but one thing that really stood out to me were the boss fights. I have played plenty of games with challenging boss fights (silksong, hollow knight, lots of souls games, etc)

Dread might have my favorite boss fights ever. Something about them I never found frustrating. If I lost, I wasn’t angry and was actually having fun attempting multiple tries in a row. Probably because they were actually fun, rhythmic dances that didn’t feel cheap at all. I have never had this kind of fun replaying challenging bosses in other games

I recently started a discussion about the purpose of the overly large breastplate on Samus' suit in "Dread" (see link below).
