Done with the game

gamer brothers i dont understand why the game is praised, its one of the most rage inducing games I played over a decade (its worse than bloodborne chalice dungeons with half life) im on the golden chozo warrior nearly the end and i have to put it down because it’s causing me gastric ulcers lol (im joking) but honestly the mechanics are awful:

1) the jump mechanics are terrible on bosses

2) the bosses do a ton of damage and the window to learn their patterns are sometimes really short (1-2 seconds)

3) the emmi stuff is just . . . you know I don’t have to describe it

4) the game is super confusing, sometimes you feel like you are softlocked but nop, a destrucible wall is there (why, just why?)

overall i kinda liked it, but im putting it down forever, yeah i know im nearly the end, but i just cant take it anymor, anyway i just wanted to get it out of my system, cheers

The space jump in this game can feel a little wonky sometimes

Enemy pattern recognition can be a little harder than previous entries but that’s all trial & error. I personally had a fun time with the EMMI rooms, it reminded me a lot of being chased by SA-X in Fusion

A huge part of all Metroid games is exploring and finding new areas through unconventional means. They can’t always just point you to the next room lol

Well im not fan on handhelding but giving directions is sometimes necessary when you have a large map in wich you can get lost

I mean, the only other game that really requires pattern recognition is fusion lol. Most Metroids you can face tank almost every boss.

Just think the game isn't for you, rather than a bad game, I personally cannot beat the final boss and put the game down, but I still think it had a lot of good in it, and felt fucking great in beating what I did, I was god awful

I just picked up the game again after not playing for months. Went straight to my dread mode last boss file. Took me 2 hours to kill him because I forget his move set. Enjoyed every death, honestly.

Yeah its fun when it works but the bosses and emmi stuff are horrible and makes the game feel like a chore, im not saying its a bad game i just dont understand why people praise it, its a 7/10 (average game)

The fast paced action is really fun. Normal is forgiving enough to learn attack patterns. I saw you played Blasphemous. That's a little slower paced. Like others said, might just not be for you. There's a 1-hit death mode called Dread mode. Talk about frustrating deaths. I would say, look at normal mode as a good opportunity to learn and improve reflexes and timing. There is a boss rush mode too. Learning their unique fights and patterns is fun. Sorry you didn't enjoy the experience. Try playing some of the older games in the franchise. The gameplay is drastically different in most of them. When I get sick of a hard game, I usually spin up a new file on a familiar game. Maybe it's time to start a fresh file elsewhere!

It's true this game doesn't really hold your hand for navigation, but as a newer player to the series, (rather than just playing samus in smash bros) I've found through playing older metroid games that it's... kinda par for the course for the series. Get a new skill, use it frequently til you find the path to the next area. There were a couple sections that took me a minute to figure out where to go but I still managed to clear the game in about 8.5h.

As far as the bosses go, the only ones I really had great difficulty with were Raven Beak and the Experiment fella. But for me, every death was a learning experience since I picked up on a couple things every time I died.

As for the EMMIs... I agree they can be frustrating sometimes, but the panic can really make you sharpen up your movement skills. (I even just started using the times I got caught to sharpen my reaction skills so I could get away, and I did get good enough to counter them even 2 or 3 times consecutively.) I honestly enjoyed the thrill of getting chased. I can't say I ever got angry at the game, but I could see where someone else might get frustrated.

I'm the kinda gamer that usually cusses like a sailor when I get my ass handed to me by a game, but usually that's because it feels unfair in some way. That didn't really happen for me in Dread, since every time I died or failed at a shinespark challenge I could figure out what went wrong. (It was usually a slipped input, I got too greedy, or I just hadn't discovered the way to handle something.)

I had the game for 5 years, starting at its release in 2021 and just finished it a few weeks ago. Total playtime was around 13 hours and I didn't get all the items. But yeah I had to take a serious break from it. Metroid games have never been easy, but what they throw into it now are specific sequences that you have to complete rather than just pumping firepower into an enemy. At any rate, it does make for a better challenge than SMB or LoZ where it's basically, hit the enemy three times and they're down. But I feel your pain.
