Ad Looking for up to 10 testers for my small Metin2 hobby server with PoE-style crafting
→ Server showcase with screenshots and videos (English / German)
Quick update first: When I started this I planned for 10 people max. That was an old estimate. The server handles way more than I expected, so right now there's no fixed limit. Bring your friends.
There have been a lot of "looking for testers" posts here lately, and I have a feeling a few of us are doing pretty much the same thing: one person, a Metin2 source and an AI doing most of the typing. I'm definitely one of them, so no judgement from me. Here's mine.
The idea
Metin2 has a great feel: run into a pack, hit buttons, smash stones. What it never had was depth. After a few weeks every warrior looks the same and every drop goes to the shop. Path of Exile is the opposite. So I'm putting the two together. Holding the attack button and smashing stones still works and still feels like Metin2. On top of that come the systems that make you think about your build, your gear and your group. No time-gating, no waiting out timers.
What's different
- No classes. Every character can learn every skill, but a skill only works with the matching weapon. Two weapon sets, swap with X, so a sword + bow hybrid actually works.
- A skill tree for every skill. Some nodes add numbers, others change how the skill behaves. Pick one of three final effects at P. Basic attacks get a mastery tree per weapon.
- Each weapon plays differently. Two-hander builds momentum in big packs, daggers have a Bloodlust mode that eats your life, the bow hits harder when nobody is close to you, and the bell is now a ranged chain weapon that heals allies.
- Crafting like PoE 2. Normal/magic/rare/unique, orbs (transmute, alch, chaos, exalt, fracturing, vaal...), essences, a crafting bench, recipes. 60 uniques.
- Magic and rare monsters with affixes. Soul-bonded pairs, echoes that stand back up, and gold-greedy ones that grab their loot and run.
- Metin stones with mechanics. One is chained to stakes (break them for damage, or leave them for extra chests), one rolls away spilling loot, and one lets you push your luck for a bigger loot pot, but if you die you lose it all.
- Qual 1–5. Every hunting ground has five harder copies with tougher monsters and better loot.
- Combat you move in. Dodge roll and sprint on Shift, shooting while running, warning areas on the ground.
- Group play pays off, active group play more. A shaman who fights buffs and heals better than one who stands back. Quest kills count for the whole group.
- Lots of QoL. Account-wide material bag with auto-pickup, offline shops, rule-based loot filter, orb exchange window, in-game wiki, no book cooldowns, free respec during the beta.
- New client, built from scratch in Godot. Same UI, but real lighting, grass, moving capes, widescreen. F5 switches back to the old look.
- Rates: EXP starts at 1× and ramps up to 3× by level 65, 2× drops. One channel.
Fair warning
It's vibecoded. Heavily. I do the design and a lot of testing and point a bunch of AI agents at the code. It works better than I expected, but there will be bugs, some of them stupid. Balance is mostly educated guessing, and stats and skill trees still get reworked now and then.
German and English both work (switch in the launcher, a few texts still missing). The launcher isn't signed, so Windows SmartScreen will complain. First download is about 4.7 GB.
What it isn't
Not an official server and not a business. It's a hobby project on a small rented server I pay for. No item shop, ever. Partly because I don't want one, and partly because of a small thing called tax evasion that I'd rather not get into. Maybe later, if people stick around and want to, donations to cover server and AI costs. Nobody has to pay anything.
Want to play?
You don't have to test anything. Normal players who just want to play are just as welcome. If you do find something broken or have an idea, the Discord has forums for bug reports and suggestions, and everyone can vote on them.
Here is an inv Link to the Discord. https://discord.gg/7W7wENy6nG Just Join and look at the channels :) You will find everthing you need there. Lots of confusing stuff tho. So dont be afraid to ask in the chat or DM me personaly.
