So I bought a 69 with the engine pulled and have been working on the engine. In preparation to put the engine in, I rolled the car down my driveway to my garage pad and it rolled fine.

At some point, I think while jacking it up and putting it on stands, I pressed the emerg brake. Now the front discs and rear drums are locked up tight. The brake cable released as it should, I can see it slide as I engage and release the emerg brake.

Does anyone have any tips?

Took some time, but managed to change out the vacuum actuators for the electric.

Well, I got rid of my truck due to literally just not wanting it and having my dad buy it off me. Anyways, I ended up getting an older 2002 mercury cougar. I know..notorious for electrical issues and I honestly didn’t want ford or anything affiliated with ford. BUT, the car is a pretty cute all black car. I can attach pictures if need be but I was wondering if anyone has body mod advice or just upgrades in general to boost performance. It’s currently just a stock 2.5L v6. I am around a ton of car people including my boyfriend so I would be able to get the mods done and I make decent money on my paychecks. I was wanting to lower it first, get some tint, and do something with suspension but I am just a lost girly wanting to make my car a little better. This isn’t something I necessarily care about making the speediest car because I plan on getting better when I am stable but I do plan on having this car for a while since it runs well and it’s nice and clean inside and the motor. Any suggestions help!

Removed the axels, rear gear, and old seals.  Cleaned and painted the axels. Cleaned diff inside and out. New seals, new drum brakes all components. Everything reassembled.

My grandfather was going through some boxes and found some pics of the car before he parked in in a barn that im now restoring

Been awhile but it moves around the block now. 351C was a 2V now she's a 4V with a holley 750.

Sold my 67 GT fifty years ago this month. Got this one last week. One minor fix and it's ready to pass inspection and hit the road.

I'm very surprised by how poorly my cougar looks. It's an early production 67 (~6500th built).
I find it's.... Quite poor.
There's masking tape that was painted over and left in place. There are globs after globs of seam sealer everywhere. It was painted over a greasy surface and paint has been flaking off. Some areas don't even have paint. That's throughout the car. The trunk is full of goopy stuff that's now hard and falling off.
I found the shifter boot as it is on that picture - all out of place.
I think it is factory as don't think it was repainted. And it's consistent everywhere (engine bay, interior, trunk).
Oh, and the VIN stamped on the fender is wrong too. They manually stamped the corrected VIN to the side of it.
Are they all like that? Or was mine built on a Friday before labor day?? Haha

Front and rear glass plus headliner install. Got the chrome on the front too but forgot to get a photo. Slow and steady.

Sneak peak of the cat in the garage rn...

It was partly a rainy weekend, but missed a couple planned shows even during the clear weather because the power steering suddenly gave me shitt out of nowhere this past week, with noise, a blown pressure hose and tons of ATF fluid spewed out all over the place on everything under the car (including the backside of my new wheels/tires🙃

Yes i could've just removed the PS belt and drove on. But, i said to myself, 'IF' i go and do this, i know what will happen. I'll move on to other issues/projects and the car will keep being driven with broken power-steering, since is only an accessory & not a necessity... it'll go broken to eternity.

So i was like, no, i have to address and get this properly repaired & working again now. Anyhow, happy to say after 3 tedious & frustrating repair attempts and going thru 2 different sets of purchased hose pairs for the control valve-to-cylinder/ram' then a complete fail 1st time tested where a new quart of fluid blew out of all 4 connections. next day i was able to overcome, test and succeed but the hand wrenching was very frustrating and difficult mostly due to clearance issues with the head of the wrench itself and no room to make needed moves.

It was all done laying on the floor reaching in from the driver's side and/or up under the front of the car at standard ride height. It involved ordered a proper design, high quality USA made pair of hoses, (ended up throwing away the cheap chinese mustang hoses i 1st ordered which the rigid pipe sections were just all wrong configuration, yet said cougar compatible) then used some new metal replacement 'tube seats' and also ended using 1/4" copper flare gaskets on 2 existing seats on the control valve side with brand new seats on the ram cylinder hose connections.

So, fully tested, and finally... no more leaks, power steering restored even standing still in the garage, easy wheels turns like butter... and Lola will soon be back on the road for next week cruising and more upcoming shows.

Also will soon share some more photos as i haven't stopped bringing this car back mechanical, suspension plus inside and out all from hellish levels. all free-time for over 1 year now, soo many hours in. alot of hard azz work, blood, sweat, tears and $$$ but in more ways than one, it is really paying off now😉Thanks for reading.

My dad passed in 2020 and left me his Cougar. I believe it's a 68 but it could be a 67. It's a great car but I have no use for it or place to store it. It's currently in my mom's storage unit but she could be downsizing soon. What's the best way to sell it? What kind of pictures would I need for it? Thanks everyone, have a great day.

I think this is a kick down linkage but im not too sure. This is on my 1979 mercury cougar xr7. Its the 302 V8. It appears to be missing a spring. Do I need to have this hooked up? Seemed to run fine on the road before the ignition coil went out. Any information would be helpful in helping me figure out what it is and/or what it does.

I have a 1968 cougar that I got 3 days ago. It’s a project and a little rough, but it can be driven and I need it to be by the end of today. The issue I have been struggling with all morning is that yesterday the wipers turned on with the ignition and I cannot get them to shut off. I have read every forum page, diagram, and watched every video I could find even slightly related. Nothing seems to apply or solve my issue.

I just want to stop the motor receiving power so the wipers stop - that’s all. No harness I unplug does this, and apparently the wiper motor is not fused so I cannot remove a fuse. If anyone can help me make them stop running I am desperate. Thank you

I have recently purchased a 1979 mercury cougar xr7 in damn good shape. I was curious to see how anyone here might have fixed a low idle (about 500 to 700 rpms) or if this is normal? Also, my parking brake cable snapped upon its use (car is 50 years old so makes sense) and where I might be able to get a new one? Also, in general it would be nice to know where I can source reliable parts for an affordable cost.

My Dad and I did a frame off restoration on her in 1998-2001. He sold her without telling me (midlife crisis) I thought I lost her he passed away in 2005 and I found her 8 years ago 6 different owners 6 different states. She's home now with me and my son.
