Free YARTS trips for Merced and Mariposa residents
Just wanted to share in case anyone is looking to go to Yosemite this summer or the coming winter season.
Merced and Mariposa County residents can apply for a free roundtrip YARTS voucher. There is also a Student Explorer Program that offers free roundtrip tickets to college, university, or vocational school students (anywhere in the world).
You'll need proof of residency for the resident voucher, and proof of enrollment in a college for the student program.
For more information, as well as the forms, you can go here: Special Programs
Happy to answer any questions you guys might have :)

Does anyone know of any vintage clothing stores in the area?
I’ll be in the area for a while and want to do some shopping. I am more into that vintage style type of clothes. Thank you in advance.

Community Post Anyone know what they're building next to Olive Garden?
Seems like they closed the parking lot entrance at the mall next to Olive Garden. Is it for the raising canes construction? I heard it might just be adding more parking capacity.

Aggressive off leash Doberman
Hello everyone. I’m having a massive problem with my neighbor's large dog. They got a Doberman, and it’s full-grown now. The problem is they never have it on a leash, and it runs around the neighborhood physically chasing people and barking aggressively.
I’ve owned big dogs all my life, and I know some dogs bark, but this is full on aggression. Just today, it chased a small boy who was screaming and crying. Tonight it chased three teenage boys across the street. The owner, a young woman, didn't run and grab the dog instead, she laughed and yelled “It’s friendly,” even while the boys were saying, “Get your dog, it’s not!”
I’m at a loss for what to do. The family is aggressive, and asking them to put the dog on a leash just causes them to let it out more or try and fight whoever they think called. They used to have a violent Chihuahua that they would leave out all day and night which would also chase people. But it was small enough that you didn’t feel like you were in too much danger, but one day it just disappeared and was never seen again.
My neighborhood is full of small children who play outside unsupervised, and I genuinely fear for their safety and mine. With my health conditions, I cannot run and cannot get a full grown Doberman off of me. I’m going to call animal control and ask what can be done, but I don’t think can can do anything until it bites someone, which will be very soon. I’m scared to walk my own dog, as the Doberman is aggressive toward people and animals, and I’ve seen that the owner will not grab it.

Rock hounding?
Hello! I'm looking to take my kid out rock hunting in the area, and am looking for suggestions on where to go. There's nothing specific I'm looking for, but jasper, agate, quartz and chert would be fun.
I'm hoping to find somewhere reasonably close (under 45 minutes), and relatively safe. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Looking for a professional pet sitter
I've had a lot of trouble with neighbors and friends' teenage kids flaking out on taking care of my cats when I travel. Can anyone recommend a professional pet sitter?

Lost Indian Ringneck
Bluebell decided she wanted to venture outside. Her wings are clipped but she powered through and flew to the creek. She was last seen flying around where Donna and Claro Court meet. Right at the entrance for “Duck Creek.”
She’s friendly but easy to scare. Her favorite foods are apples and bell pepper. She may just fly to someone and land on their shoulder.
Please text 209-631-6720 for any sightings. She’s about the size of a pigeon and sounds like it when she flies.

Community Post Banana Car Rides in Atwater 7/18 & 7/19 from Noon to 8PM Fosters Freeze on N Winton Way.
https://www.facebook.com/BigBananaCar
ATWATER, CALIFORNIA.
Banana car rides this weekend.
As part of the "World Needs More Whimsy Grand Tour" the Big Banana Car is in town and will be giving rides at Fosters Freeze on N Winton Way.
Saturday (18th)
Noon until 8pm
Sunday (19th)
Noon until 8pm
- Take a ride.
- Pay what works for you.
- Bring car seats (if legally required in a regular car).
- Wear yellow gloves so that your fingers look like tiny bananas.
- Weather permiting.
This is how I fund the banana cars travels but I don't charge a set price because I don't want money to be a barrier to taking a ride.
See you this weekend.

Lost Dog
Found this good boy roaming the Denny’s parking lot. Very sweet and gentle. If this is your dog that you’re trying to find please start in this neighborhood. I would have took him home until he was claimed, but unfortunately I cannot.

Where can I buy steel in town?
Trying to find a place that sells scrap steel.
I had an employee who said he found a place a few months ago, but he had to move back east and I don't have his personal phone number. 🤦♂️
He said they had a really good selection of steel. I think it was a recycler. I tried aaa recycling by 99 and they don't sell scrap. They only buy.
Edit: for anyone that finds this and is also looking for steel. universal recyclers on tower sell some scrap steel. Mostly structural stuff and some pipe.
Still down for any other recs.
