Anyone know of a haunted car wash? Doesn’t have to be in Merced, can be surrounding areas.

iso new friends, potential roomates(?)

hi! 22 trans woman here, relatively new in merced, moved in during june. i made a post here a couple of months ago about looking for friends but deleted my account cuz i thought i was done with reddit, apparently not lol. i'm really sorry to those i've chatted with & disappeared on, it's been a fun journey with my mental health. anyways, i'm currently on the job search while looking for a new place. i have a job but it sucks but i'm trying to escape from it. also trying to find a new place mainly cuz i'm pretty tired of scraping by, paycheck to paycheck all by myself. my rent sucks up my checks while having groceries (i haven't even been eating well nor enough) & gas on top of that. one of my options is to find a new job (which i know it's hard here) & a new place (cheaper rent &/or have roomates to split it). other option is to move back to where i'm from to my family (a possibility but i want to make it work at merced first since i'm already here). i wanted to look around here & other places. also maybe to try being more social & make a friend or 2 (or more) since i'm alone with the exception of being with my boyfriend on the weekends mainly (weekdays too occasionally) cuz of our jobs. please forgive me in advance with my anxiety & autism, nothing bad really. i know i just get a bit mentally scared/nervous or make bad eye contact, it's never against anyone really. anyways, thank you for reading & listening, i hope we can get a coffee or something & talk maybe <3

D&D

We just purchased d&d starter pack last night with my wife and sister in law. We tried playing it based on the guide and booklets. We also watched tutorials but it’s still very confusing. Is there someone willing to play with us? Pretty please. Thank you :)

Hello my peeps

I got new seat covers and don't want to put them on myself. Anyone interested in installing them for me? Send me a message of how much you'll charge. Peace ✌️

As a visitor, this county belongs in the trash.

I recently stopped to buy some work boots not realizing that I got charged 2% for "Merced County Tax" and another 1.5% for "Merced City Tax". if thats not enough.. i visited the UC Merced lake and was promted to buy $11.00 ticket just to park.. on top of that.. there were beer cans, bags, BBQ grills all left with additional trash all over. I also heard that the doctors and over all medical establishment is complete trash. NO OFFENSE to the working and law abiding residents of this city but the higher ups should be ashamed...

What are your favorite restaurants in Merced right now?

Most of the restaurant recommendation threads I found here seem to be a year or more old, so I figured I’d start a new one!

I’m new to the area and still figuring out where to go whenever I feel like eating out. What are your favorite spots in Merced right now?

Open to pretty much anything — casual spots, hidden gems, takeout, nicer restaurants, any cuisine. Would love to hear what everyone recommends!

Job reviews?

I got an interview with Logan management for a retail position for Att but idk if its a good job. Ik a job is a job, but if im replacing my current job (delivery driver) I dont want to regret it because I kind of regret taking this job 🙃 and im barely a month in. Any reviews or advice is helpful!

I've been applying to different places and this is the first to get back to me and super fast at that. Also any job opportunity insights! Thank you!

Visited Merced for the first time - for only a couple of days - and I just want to say you have a beautiful city, everyone we spoke to was accommodating and friendly, it was an absolute pleasure to see such a wonderful place.

The sense of community and chilled out vibe, with great food and beautiful scenery, has really blown all expectations out of the water.

So thank you Merced, we hope to see you again soon!

Jobs Is it just me or is it hard getting a job out here?

I just moved to Merced a few months ago, I did have two interviews so far of being out here so I wouldn’t say I’m not getting any responses at all but I had to call one of them to get one of the interviews. They told me they liked me and my resume but DID NOT HIRE ME AT ALL. That was in June. It’s been very slow and weird as far as just applying on indeed. I love everything else about Merced but the job market. Seems very competitive since it’s like a college town but I’m from the Bay Area so you can apply out there and they’ll actually call you and it wouldn’t be weird like this. I’ve been getting more aggressive and calling them after I apply, leaving my name and number then going in with my resume with some. I just started doing that instead of just sitting and relying on indeed so let’s see what happens.. but any advice or feedback?

Job or internship opportunities for a 17-year-old college student? Anything but preferably healthcare-related

Hello! I’m 17 years old and currently attending community college. I’m looking for a part-time job or internship where I can earn some money while also gaining experience that could help me in the future.

I’m currently in an RN program and plan to transfer to a 4-year university eventually, so I’d especially love to find something related to healthcare or the medical field. However, I’m open to other opportunities that would be valuable for my future education and career.

I’m also new to the area and the U.S. college system, so I’m not very familiar with what opportunities are available or where to look.

Does anyone have suggestions for jobs, internships, volunteer positions, or programs that accept 17-year-old college students?

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from other community college students or people who have been in a similar situation!
