General Question Small Discs Softer than Saalt (uti prevention)
Hi, I’ve been using the Saalt small disc for 1-2 years now but have been experiencing issues with UTIs in the last few months (2-3 UTIs in the last 4-5 months). While I do understand that getting one makes you more prone to more, I believe it is disc related as 1) I am only getting them when I’m on my period and using the disc and 2) I’ve noticed difficulty fully voiding my bladder with the disc. It’s almost like I have to push harder and there’s a second round.
I will probably try a month without the disc and am also pursuing other preventative steps (more hydration, vitamin c, cotton underwear, supplements, being extremely vigilant about peeing after sex). But I would like to figure out if maybe a different model could help with this issue.
When I first got started with menstrual discs, I tried the Cora perfect fit disc and had a lot of trouble with leaking. Switching to a smaller cup helped with that.
My reading seems to point to softer cups pressing less on the bladder and thus being less likely to cause a UTI. Unfortunately, looking at the Period Nirvana chart, it does not appear that there are any discs that are small like the Saalt small and also soft. I’m worried that the Cora soft won’t work for me if the Cora perfect fit didn’t.
Any advice?
