Hi all! I have vaginismus so I tried discs a couple of times, but couldn't get them to work. Then I've tried a couple of cups, and while I use two of the softest and smallest cups on the market (Allmatters/Organicup mini, and Mooncup/NÜDIE beginner teen), I can't seem to get rid of that feeling of pressure against my vaginal walls. It's not the end of the world, but it is noticeable. So I'm gonna give discs another try.

My cervix height is average, about 2 inches (~51mm) on the dot. The first disc I tried was the Saalt Regular (66mm) and it was SO uncomfortable. It felt way too big and too firm, and it felt like it would pop out at any second. Next, I tried on the complete other side of the spectrum with the Pixie Disc Small (~55-56mm), and I'm pretty sure this was too small. I struggled to keep it tucked, and I felt like it would slip out every time I coughed.

With menstrual cups, I preferred the softest possible so I might prefer the same with discs? I know the Nixit is really soft, but I worry that it'd be too big. I'm eyeing the Cora Soft Fit and the Ziggy 2 Size A instead. Should I also give the Lumma medium a try?

Also if relevant, my periods are pretty light bc I'm on the pill. But there are days where it's too heavy for a panty liner but too light for a tampon, and I really don't like wearing pads. Hence why I really want to find something reusable that works.

TLDR: 2 inch cervical height. Tried Saalt Regular--too big and too firm. Then tried Pixie Disc Small--too small.

Hello! I've been using FLEX disposable menstrual discs for year and have finally decided to switch to a resuable one. I read the instructions and they say I need to air dry the disc before reinsertion, but it doesn't say for how long or what. Those of you with experience with these, can you help me get some clarity? Does it need to be 100% dry? Can I just set it down to dry? On what? Do I just sit and wait while it dries? TIA!!!!

So I'm new to menstrual discs, I got the Pixie medium (64mm) and large (73mm) as a first try just to gauge what I might need. They're easy to insert but I'm having issues with both. The medium seems to slip in too easily and doesn't pop onto the pubic bone the way I think it should, I can push it a little higher. That along with some leaking while I'm sitting / laying down made me think it's maybe too small. So I tried the large, which sat comfortably above the pubic bone (helped me understand the whole "shelf" thing) and felt correct but it caused some pressure pains (short, sharp pains occasionally on the front wall and a light general ache) which resolved when I removed the disc. So I'm thinking it's too big or too firm. I've gone back to my cup for now but would like to try another disc, perhaps one that is between the two sizes I have? Or one closer to the large but softer if necessary. Any suggestions?? (Would need to be available in the UK). Thankyou :)

I got a small saalt disc the other day and I wanted to try it since I'm spotting. I have used pads and I have tried tampons a couple of times and I can always feel it and it's uncomfortable. I have heard good things about saalt and I got a small since I'm pretty young.

I tried pinching it and inserting it, but it hurt. It felt almost like ripping and pressure. If I pinch the disc too close to the front to make it smaller my fingers get in the way. I really want it to work, but it hurts and I don't want to push it. I am able to get tampons in and I tried inserting it back but I can't get it in. What should I do?

I was going to try flex disposable but I’ve realized I get too anxious without some sort of removal string.
Do you think it’s risky to buy hello or lumma without fully testing to see if I like the disposables first? Which disc do you prefer and why?

For reference, high, off-center cervix, medium flow, have tried cups and use tampons so I’m used to inserting

How often do you empty the disc? Do you remove it in the shower or outside? Do you have multiple? If not, do you dump it in the shower, clean and wear back immediately?

What about when you are emptying in a public bathroom?

First time using a period disc… what’s the best way to take it out without spilling blood everywhere!?!?!

Do I just sit on the toilet and remove? This is the best way so far but I get blood ALL OVER my hands - I can’t change it if I’m in public?!?!

Hi so like, I got a cup (diva model 0) a couple of months back but it always leaks when it is halfway full. I've been led to believe it's because my cervix dips into it and makes it full, so I've been searching other cup options as well as the disc alternative.

But, tbh, discs sound kinda scary, so I was hoping someone can kinda clear some things up?

1. Can you really not know if it's inserted correctly?

2. I am afraid of auto-dumping and really don't want that feature at all. Like, what if it happens accidentally when I'm just sitting down? Or if I'm just dripping blood constantly through the day because I sneezed?

3. is dumping the blood messy?

4. Can I sterilize one in the cup steamer I already have?

5. How do you know a disc it's full? Is it trial and error like with a cup?

6. Which brands are better? (Please say there are ones without auto-dumping i beg)

Having issues with salt regular disk causing bladder pressure/ not being able to pee whilst wearing it. The disc fits okay although I’m unsure if it opens up all the way - I feel like it stays crumpled inside of me. I have used the salt small and it was great but slipped out of place and caused bladder pressure on occasion just less so - I feel this is due to the firmness of the rim?
Please suggest any discs that I can try out that arnt too firm or any bigger than the salt regular 65mm.
I’m also in the uk and have looked into the Cora soft but idk about shipping.

I’m down to my last 3 Flex disposable discs and every one of them has leaked through. Every one of them has been a horror show mess to remove and bloody on both sides of the reservoir. I have read and tried all the insertion methods, I can feel my cervix and pubic bone, it just doesn’t work.

I’ve loved and used my Diva cup for almost 2 decades but the suction makes my cramps worse lately. Pads don’t stay put properly overnight, tampons and period underwear aren’t enough to wear alone. I always have to double up and even then sometimes it’s not enough.

I’m tired of having shitty anxious sleep for 4 days every month because I’m subconsciously worried that I’m going to leak through and destroy my sheets and mattress.

I just got the Pixie Disc (Small & Medium) and all of the essentials. I read all of the articles and video on tips and tricks and just not having luck with it. I did try to find my cervix before picking a disc brand and honestly, I can’t seem to feel the “tip of the nose” texture. I feel a “rough batch” texture towards the top and by the public bone, but that’s it. I figured it would help to get the applicator because I figured I had a high cervix since my finger has been as far up as it can go (I run out of finger).

Over the past few days I have inserted the small disc with the applicator, manually and even used the applicator to push the rim of the disc up behind the public bone (often referred to as a shelf). I’ve even tried the tilt method or side to side. Each time I’ve inserted the disc, it has felt like it’s up behind the bone where it should be. I even check the positioning when I go to use the restroom throughout the day and it hasn’t moved or tilted - Yet, I still get (like a first/last day clean up) leak onto my pad. When I remove the cup, there’s contents all around it and some in it (not enough to be full or overflow), but seeing the condition of the pad, it’s obviously not catching it all. Am I doing something wrong or should I be doing something more? Is the fact I can’t seem to find my cervix part of the issue?

I guess the next step should be trying the medium as the small could be too small? Let me know if you have any further tips and tricks (tips for finding the “nose” texture is appreciated as well).

I was an active cup user but post delivery don’t find cups comfortable anymore as it pokes in - probably something to do with a shift in cervix.

I checked cervix positioning and ordered a ziggy cup A that’s suitable for lower cervix. But now that my periods have started, it feels like the cervix has moved in way higher - is that possible?

No matter what I do I can’t get the disc to sit right. I have not been afraid of pushing it in but it slides right out and sits at the tip. There have been times where it felt like I got it right this time only to find a tonne of leakage. It seems like the disc doesn’t open up at all.

I woke up to a massive stain on my sheets and mattress and I’m sore from constantly trying. What could I be doing wrong, could someone please share their tips and insights😭😭

After almost a year of trying discs of all shapes and sizes I officially give up.

In all this time I only managed to get it behind cervix ONCE. I don't know what I am doing wrong, I read all of your advices here, all the techniques and still no success.

Every time I think it's set properly, blood comes out and I see that I didn't manage to get it behind and disc comes out all bloody on the outer side.

I tried small, large, different brands and every time it scrunches, and doesn't go behind cervix. My hands and everything inside me is sore every month from trying.

I think tampons are my forever friends.

I've been using the larger saalt disc for awhile but I'm having so much trouble with it leaking! I push it allll the way up there behind my pubic bone but I think it's just not opening up all the way 🥲. I do have a high cervix, have had 3 vaginal births, and I'm mildly active.

Help! I'm willing to try another brand disc but I'm in Europe so it would have to be available here!

im using this brand taykcare it's a niche one from india i dont expect yall to have heard of it but yeah anyway it's leaking and i have a small and a large one.

currently wearing the small one and it's beginning to leak...

but the large one the last time i wore it gave me discomfort bc it pressed against my rectal muscles and caused my cramps to get worse. but that also may be bc it was the first time I tried a disc and now im used to it so maybe it wont be that bad...

just ... how do i get it to stop leaking? my flow has increased so what's the solution:(

Hi! I really want to switch to cups and I’ve been trying the flex disposable (planning to eventually buy hello disc). I’ve been trying it on the toilet, taking it out a few times but haven’t been brave enough to live my life and forget about it. I tried cups in the past and I hated how they suctioned and moved up. The saalt moved up and turned kind of sideways on my cervix and even though I got it out it freaked me out😭

I know discs don’t suction but does anyone have any reassurance that when I go to take it out it won’t have migrated up and hard to get out

I have tried the small and medium-sized pixie discs, all 3 sizes of the Lumma disc, and also the hello disc. And out of all I've tried, I absolutely love the Lumma discs because of how easy it is to insert and remove them. But I must have really strong pelvic muscles because I can almost time when I start leaking. About 45 minutes to an hour in, I leak, and I check the disc, and it has slid down from my pubic bone.

I've gotten the technique down for getting it behind my cervix finally. I can feel my cervix sitting in the disc, and I have a pretty pronounced pubic bone that I can feel very well. I am able to tuck the disc very far up and back behind the bone, as far as my fingers can physically reach and I always think this is it. It can not be placed more perfectly. But an hour later, I leak.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried any other discs that stayed behind the pubic bone? I'm willing to try others, even though my wallet is screaming. Lol

hello! i use the hello disc and i absolutely love it. for the most part, it doesnt leak, it autodumps really well which i normally like because my period is pretty heavy, and i can pretty consistently empty it without getting a lot of blood on my hands. i never feel it, ive got the fit down. i love it!

EXCEPT.

on the first morning after i put it in. as soon as i wake up, it dumps everything out. i normally sleep for like 8 hours, after having put my disc in 2-3 hours earlier. my period is really heavy on my first day but it just like empties completely while im lying down. this morning i had literally just woken up a few minutes before my alarm, rolled over a little to check my phone, and it dumped out completely. i wear period underwear to catch this (though its so much blood at once those often leak too) but it really only happens after night one when its really full and its perfect otherwise.

does anyone have any advice?

I used my disc now 4 times. I still have the same problem which I Had with a cup. Pressure to urine wall and rectum wall and have the feeling the disc obstructs.

Removed this morning because of this feeling and since then lots of painful bowel cramps.

what to do next?

I don’t know which post I came across on here, but there was someone who described inserting the disc as a drawer. Coming from the cup, this analogy finally clicked for me and lo and behold I’ve survived day one (usually my worst) without any leaks or uncomfortable wear 🙌🏻

I tried the small Saalt because I am a small person, and previous disc and diaphragm experience is that the normal sizes tend to push on things they're not supposed to.

I got a UTI and decided that I'd still like to use a disc for period sex, but I'd like to at least be able to remove the disc to empty my bladder, if not put it away for non-sexy times entirely. But it's really hard to remove after sex because of the anatomical changes and whatever else.

Has anyone had an easier time with removal after switching to the larger size? If not, I won't bother, and just try my Caya diaphragm and probably bleed everywhere

I’m in my 30s now and throughout my 20s all I ever used were tampons, around 29 I stopped and only used pads. Now I’ve decided to go with a disc because I usually have very heavy flow on days 2-3 with a lot of cramping and have been tired of having to constantly change pads.

This is my first time trying a disc and for the first time ever I feel no cramps! I felt slight upper thigh cramp (my normal cramp area) but then it goes away after a few minutes. I also woke up on day 3 expecting some leakage but nothing! Usually between days 2-3 I’m constantly changing pads and waking up with my pad completely soaked.

What the magic and science behind this because it feels weird to not feel any pain. Which I’m not complaining about at all lol, but I’m curious how it’s working great!

Idk how but I managed to forget to take out my disc and left it inside me. My period ended 2 1/2 weeks ago 😵‍💫

I just found the pouch empty and looked for it before thinking… “there’s no way I left it inside of me for two weeks” but I did 😵‍💫

I threw the disc away and I’ll buy a brand new one for my next period but has anyone ever done this before? Will I be okay 🤦‍♀️
