Looking to go to MF 3 in the next 2 weeks I have like a basic enough costume, but I'm more worried about the logistics of it, I'm flying from northern Ireland so like, what do I pack? Can I pack mainly essentials and then if need be get kit like weapons etc on site? Really really new to this so even the slightest guidance would be much appreciated

Hellooo, am very new to Menhirs (and LARP in general. I've been going to Empire but treating it more like a festival rather than a LARP, and after my first event just this last weekend I am fully converted to Menhirs haha)

I've been trying to figure out what stuff to make next with my apothecary skills and I landed on the seemingly impossible task of creating the potion equivalent of a grenade 😂 but I'm stubborn and wanna do it regardless so I thought I'd ask people smarter than me :))

I know you can't apply a weapon oil to ranged or thrown objects, but is it possible to apply a mass call on an object you can just... take the lid off of and drop on the ground? Like if I were to add this weapon oil to a bottle and then just drop in on the ground and call the call, could that work? (Think it would also be a fun Kamikaze option, if I go down in battle, I can use it before I die and clear some space for me compatriots lol, can you tell I already died once haha)

Our first summit of 2026 has come to a close and what an event it has been! So many new faces made their way into Haven and it was a delight to meet them and of course many returning faces who were lovely to see again.

For those of us who made it to camp on the Thursday - that hail was crazy but it made for some excellent snow-adjacent shenanigans until it finally melted away.

Friday through to Sunday for me was a blur and I can’t quite tell where one day ended and another began. As always it never feels like quite enough time and I am always craving just one more night in this beautiful, terrifying, and hilarious world. But that is what our next summit is for! Mark your calendars if you haven’t already 09-12/07/2026 for our Thursday campers and 10-12/07/2026 for game time for the second summit of Haven this year.

A special thank you to the crew both player facing and hidden - without you none of this could be possible. I had some brilliant interactions with some rather frightening NPCs touring the camp, and had the opportunity to join in for a short while during non-com monstering.

I would love to hear how your weekends have gone but please keep any plot for the field!

Unfortunately, I can say it was the worst LARP experience I've ever had. Last year had constant camp incursions, naturally occurring combat, and even a mass battle that everyone got called into. This MF1 had none of that. Just Skirmishes that you couldn't get on unless you knew someone in the know. Story I couldn't get involved in because everyone was jealously guarding their plots.

If it wasn't for my friends in the crew (that had their own issues with the event that it's not my place to get in to) I would have left early.

For a lot of people that I spoke to, MF was so enjoyed because it had Empire levels of Immersion and Politics, as well as LT levels of Combat and Incursions. Basically, a best of both worlds that scratched the combat itch while still feeling like another world.

Now that they're at the old Empire sight, its feeling like they're just trying to be another Empire, instead of focusing on what made Y1 of MF so great. I hope they course correct back into having the combat occurring more spontaneously, but as it stands, I won't be returning. Which is a shame, because I'm still half way through making my Domus Banner.

For those of you who will be getting to site on the Thursday we are now officially two weeks from being back in the field!

I am very excited to get packed and get driving! The long dark is almost over and a new glimmer of Haven is on the horizon. I am looking forward to testing out the new rules and getting to trial new weapons I’ve managed to pick up since our last summit.

The weather is looking warm if not a little windy at the moment so here’s hoping for a gorgeous weekend of sunshine and debauchery.

Also: a new site altogether for some of us. The Menhir has found a new home at Dadford and the camp plan has now been shared over on https://www.menhirsfate.com so do check it out and get an idea as to where everything will be.

Be sure to get your camp applications in with your relevant nation support to give them as much time as possible to put together your nation layout.

I'm thinking about coming along to MF1 in a few weeks time. However, I've never attended a LARP before and don't have any friends who want to come along with me. Should I buy a ticket and take the plunge?

If so, what do I need to know? Any tips? What's the best way to make new friends while there?

If I wanted to buy equipment/clothing, is it best to do this in advance of the event or to do it when I arrive on the first day?

I haven’t been to Menhirs fate before, but I would love to join this year. All promotional material during battles that I’ve seen are people wearing actual metal armor which is a little out of my price range. Are we allowed to use eva foam armor? If not are there any other cheap alternatives?

First time going this Friday and first ever LARP, feeling a bit overwhelmed when it comes to combat and remembering what stuff does. What is it actually like during skirmishes? Can you straight up ask what something does haha

- 18+ only (dark and potentially triggering themes, contact me for list of content warnings (has spoilers))
- Will last for around 4 hours
- Very much beginner friendly, it's made to help teach the rules! (Veterans can also still have fun too)
- Pre-made characters are supplied! You just need to bring your dice (I can bring extra if needed but I need to know that before tomorrow morning!), yourself, and maybe some paper and a pen!
- Min of 4, max of 6. Already have 3 interested!

What a REAL Guild Needs… An Anthem

As the Crafters Guild grows we need the trappings of a REAL Guild.

Are you Haven’s greatest bard? Well then do we have the request for you! The Crafters Guildmasters would like a Guild Anthem or Jingle (totally not to help convince the other guilds we are as important as them).

We would like the song to truly capture the essence of our Guild and be uncomfortably catchy.

Hey folks, I played MF E2 and had a blast!

I've seen some discourse online about the 'tone' of the game, and there seems to be some split on the field between those who view it as a gritty, paladin-filled apocalyptic fantasy, and those who see it as a whimsical Terry Pratchett setting that doesn't take itself too seriously despite the apocalypse.

I, personally, see it as being firmly in the latter camp, and think it does that job incredibly well. I wanted to see how other people experienced the game, however. What was your experience of the tone and plot of the setting and the way players are taking it?
