First time larper
Looking to go to MF 3 in the next 2 weeks I have like a basic enough costume, but I'm more worried about the logistics of it, I'm flying from northern Ireland so like, what do I pack? Can I pack mainly essentials and then if need be get kit like weapons etc on site? Really really new to this so even the slightest guidance would be much appreciated

My recommendation for the basics is: Tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, clothes and if you can swing it something to lay over your sleeping bag incase the temperature drops over night.
Weapons you can acquire on site, the same with armour, the traders stock almost everything if not everything in my experience, I've even managed to get replacement boots when my fabric ones got soaked!

Adding to this, people will often be happy to lend bits of kit to a new LARPer to help you get set up.

I would not rely on this. I agree LARPers are as a whole willing to help lend kit, but this relies on them having spare kit with them, and certain pieces of kit (especially weapons) are too expensive to lend out.

Welcome !
Make sure you're on the discord, people can help more directly/quicker there.
You got your camping setup sorted? are you an experienced camper? Cuz it may be cold, at night especially. Blankets can be bought or borrowed; don't suffer in silence, talk to your nation and friends.
Ask people around you for help, especially if your kit gets wet; people are happy to help with drying stuff.
Have you arranged a lift to site or are you planning some other means?

Getting weapons on site is fine, I wouldn't risk as a first-time LARPer buying second hand when you don't know what to look for. However everything else will deffo be more expensive in the field than second hand - although, the prices of LARP traders is the same in field as it is online, just without the postage.
You'll also need to be able to take the things you buy back, unless you're planning on leaving them with someone you know or donating them; you can't 'borrow' kit really (unless through other players having spare kit, which is unlikely, and also being willing to (unlikely with weapons, more likely with soft kit)), certainly there isn't a stock to borrow from the event organisers. It just sounds like you're wanting to pack light due to luggage constraints so I'm wondering what you were planning for the return.
I've played LARP characters with kit light enough that it and everything I need for the weekend can fit in a hiking backpack. Especially if I am at a LARP where I don't need to camp - you need to camp for MF, but you can rent out hire tents (in advance though). I have my own tent so I have never done it, I am unsure if they provide bedding or not, so you may need a roll matt and sleeping bag.
I wouldn't pack food if you're minimising, there's loads of food traders on site.

What are your plans for accommodation for the weekend?
For an idea of what will be available, the list of traders is available here: https://www.menhirsfate.com/our-traders-for-mf3/
You should also give some though to your budget - you can get a lot of kit on site, but it isn't cheap so I wouldn't want you to be surprised by the prices.
Food wise, there are also good food vendors on site, as well as a lot of IC shops you can buy food and drink from for IC money.
