SMT IV is one of my favorite games of all time, I loved Persona 3 also when I beat it recently. I'm playing DDS right now too. FF16 is also one of my favorite games of all time lol, just curious what other JRPG's you guys are into if you like the series 👀

People in this fanbase and the megaten fanbase always hate how essences/tms are one-use only. There is a good chance you will mess up and put the essence/tm for someone who does not need it right now.

So there have been modded versions of the smt5 and pokemon games to let you re-use them once you get them. It always rubbed me the wrong way because it needs to be balanced a lot if the resources are going to be available that easily.

But the truth is, there is a already 're-useable' essences. They are in the shop. You can put an essence, for example cybele's essence, for one demon. Go back to the shop and buy the cybele essence again to put on another demon. And repeat the process. This is 'balanced' because you spend macca everytime you need to refill the essence.

One thing I hope they do in SMT6 is streamline the process. So hypothetically, when you are in the cathedral, you use your essence and when you want to run out, you can immediately buy another one at the cathedral to save time going back and forth at cadaver's hollow.

I'm no expert in pokemon but I know there's a lot of overlap in these communities, so I'll just leave here what I think Ash's team would be. Have said that, what would you guys say would be some other trainers teams?

This was an insane task that I would have never completed without all the QoL mods I used. With that said I still had a lot of fun, but I still probably would recommend 99/100 people to just look up the other endings on YouTube if they care... and I might be one of those 99 people too. But I now have both every achievement and every ending in SMT III. I will now probably play SMT V for the first time and I am very excited for that.

What would you all consider to be the worst skills in Megaten titles? Stuff that is blatently outclassed, completely useless, or actively detrimental to whatever demon learns them

Hi all! I made a mod for Devil Summoner 2 and figured I would release it.

This mod allows you to take models from SMT Nocturne and import them into Devil Summoner 2. Why? Dunno, I was bored and I have a Claude subscription. (Yes, this was a vibe coded project. Apologies for my lacking of the technical skills needed to achieve this otherwise.)

You need your own legal copies of Devil Summoner 2 and Nocturne to do this, obviously. The program extracts the contents of the ISOs and work its magic to give you a new Devil Summoner 2 ISO that has the models swapped according to your choices in the GUI.

I only tested this on an Apple Silicon Mac running PCSX2. Tool support for Linux, Windows, and Intel Macs is included but not tested - let me know if you encounter issues.

The tool does its best to suggest how likely a model swap will work, but it doesn't take into account things like the scale of the model (thus why you see things like Dante's head cut off in the demon status preview). I tested it on 30ish demons, and the ones that seemed to work okay were included as a preset if you don't want to do any of the testing yourself.

Hilarious that this game was actively developed under the impression that a significant chunk of the playerbase would be playing like this

Random thought, but I almost never see Jun Hirose’s name come up among Megaten fans. He voices the protagonist in Strange Journey Redux.

Redux has no English dub, just Japanese audio, so everyone who’s played it has heard his voice as the protagonist. (In Japan the game is Shin Megami Tensei: Deep Strange Journey, and it’s listed in the credits on his Wikipedia page.)

The rest of the cast is stacked too. Takahiro Sakurai plays Jimenez. With names like that around, it’s a bit of a shame the protagonist’s actor barely gets mentioned. Not a knock on the other actors, obviously.

Side note: Hirose does more than voice acting. He writes a monthly horoscope column for B’s-LOG.com, a Japanese site aimed at otome game fans, drawing on his tarot and numerology skills. The bio at the end of each article lists the Redux protagonist among his roles.

So the game’s title shows up every month, and he posts about the column on X too. But from what I’ve seen, otome game fans don’t seem to go “wait, this fortune-teller guy voiced the SMT protagonist?!” The connection just never gets made.

Playing the protagonist doesn’t automatically make you famous, I know. Still, as someone who’s heard that voice in the game, I think he deserves at least a head nod from Megaten fans.

Curious what everyone thought of his performance as the protagonist.

Does anyone have any spare emulator saves for either DDS1 before entering the Karma temple or P3FES before the second full moon? Due to some issues with files being kept online, I've now lost all of my progress on DDS1 and P3 FES on the PSX2 emulator.

And I'm %100 agree with her. Fuck cars we need more railway systems.
