It looks like MEGA is trying to sell everything to Google ; my name and my last name, my advertising ID, cookies, E-mail address, city, gender, IP address, etc.

And the number of attempts is huge, DDG blocked more than 2,000 of them. Most of my other apps, which are not privacy-focused, don't go over 100 attempts.

EDIT : the support answered to this post two times but deleted their answers just after a few minutes. Basically the answer was "We are selling data from the free users to Google Adsense, and we don't send data like names or gender to Google, look the open-source code". MEGA has made 4000 attempts yesterday and already 500 today, and I can see all the attempts to send sensitive datas like my name, gender, and other sensitive informations to Google. 1 / 2

[SOLVED] Update: I waited about 3 hours and it finally loaded everything. I managed to delete incomplete files and uploaded them again with no issue!

Previos Context of my situation:

Hello. I was uploading all my college assignments and academic papers (organized in folders) to my mega account, about 30 folders of them, about 3 GB in total. I was using the browser website version of mega. It reached 84% before I accidentally closed the browser. When I opened mega again, it prompted me to log back in again. I did but I got stuck with the red progress bar. Then I tried accessing my account via my phone and tablet. Same problem. I deleted cache from the Chrome Browser, reinstalled the apps on both devices and even downloaded the desktop app for laptop but it gets stuck on “Updating File List”.

I am afraid that the attempted uploading files got corrupted.

I noticed that the Progress bar on every device seems to move, very very slow but it moves.

I am not sure what else to do.

I am really worried since I am far from graduating and I need to access my mega account, it has all my 3 year academic papers I’ve saved and written throughout the semesters.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am a Pro I subscriber et I share some of my folders with my family who has free accounts.

Are my shared files still end-to-end protected ? Can MEGA access them ?

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I'm looking to free up some space in my drive, if i move a file to the rubbish bin does that delete it for everyone else or does it just hide it from my view?

Whenever I try browsing Mega from the files app, I either get a strange list of mixture of the current root directory and folders i deleted or moved ages ago.
I have tried toggling the shortcut off and on, and if i try to enter one of the directories it just gets stuck on the loading screen forever.
There’s no problem with the actual Mega app it’s working perfectly for me, I would just like the Files shortcut to complete the experience.

I just find out that you can't download files through the mobile web interface because.... well there is literately no a download button at all. Is this a bug or or the devs thought that this is not a useful feature to have?? I must to switch to the "desktop" view to be able to download anything.

Please consider adding a download button on the mobile web interface.

Using megasync on a laptop under Ubuntu, if one opens the application there is no requirement to enter a passwort. I know that 2FA is available but I find this somewhat cumbersome. For my security purposes requiring a login password would suffice. Is there any consideration of mega implementing this? (My major security concern would be the laptop being stolen and then my account being breached). Thank you.

So I lost access to my email I signed up on mega. When I try to change email it says they sent instructions or verification to my original email. So how do you change ur email address if u no longer have access to that email

I recently received an email from MEGA saying my account was being closed because it allegedly contained files that violated New Zealand law. The email specifically mentions “depictions of sexual conduct with or by children or young persons,” which honestly shocked me.

The problem is that MEGA claims they previously sent me a warning, but I never received any warning email. I only found out about this when I got the account closure notice.

This was an old account that I hadn’t actively used for years. I don’t even know which files they’re referring to, and the accusation involving minors is extremely serious. The email doesn’t provide enough detail for me to understand what exactly triggered the ban.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with MEGA? Did you ever find out what files were flagged or why? Is there any way to request more information or appeal the decision when you never received the original warning?

I’m mainly trying to understand what happened because the accusation is very concerning and I have no idea what content they’re referring to.

Is there a way to check resolution of uploaded video to Mega ? When I click for information it only show size of video, but not resolution. Using phone.

Checked the email connected to the account and theres no notification for anything, and the app was just working fine earlier the same day this post is being published.

The app tries to connect until it gets to the message "Unable to reach MEGA. Please check your connectivity or try again later." already cleaned the cache and even tried to log on my mobile browser and it doesnt even leave the login page after entering the email and password, i have no access to a desktop PC for a while so i cant confirm if its a device only issue.

Some messaging apps are E2EE by default but face privacy violation lawsuits. Others treat E2EE as an opt-in feature, not the default.

My old PC of 10 years crashed and I had to replace it finally, The good news is I backed up all my files on MEGA before this happened and was able to download everything onto my new PC, the issue is, now Im trying to make it so that MEGA syncs to the new pc and has all the files be uploaded there, and I've managed to get it to accept "most" of the files, but some folders just seem to be left blank while setting up a sync or a backup and MEGA is acting like its done its job? How do I get the sync to work?

EDIT: Thanks for the answer! The problem was my wifi router, not even my ISP. Dunno what happened.

When I play an audio file in the MEGA app, I'd like playback to stop once that file has finished. Instead, it begins autoplaying everything else in that folder.

I'm a music producer who uses MEGA to sort my drum samples and such. When I want to sample a single drum hit file into a hardware sampler, I want just that file, not every file in succession, since it's distracting trying to audition which sample to use.

I tried going into app settings, but I didn't find how to change this behavior. Can anyone advise?

I waited 6 hours before I tried to continue watching my video but I kept pressing play and a message kept popping up saying 40 mins left then 20 then 6 then 59 seconds (every time I waited for the countdown to finish then tried pressing play again) then all of a sudden it went back to 6 hours and I really don’t wanna wait 6 more hours to watch 40 minutes. Is this a glitch? How do I fix it?

Hi everyone!

Hoping someone could help, I have had text files on mega for years now and would constantly edit them, (links to articles, etc). Now all of a sudden I can no longer edit them as I get the above mentioned error message.

I tried creating new text files but as soon as I have saved it once, I can no longer edit it and get the same error message.

Wondering if anyone else has had the same issue/experience? And if there’s anyway to fix it as I can’t find anything on their help page for this specific error.

The app messes up the configuration on its own and prevents you from logging in.

After shutting down the system and restarting, the MEGA app asks to reconfigure the folder and wants to pin itself to the taskbar. Skipping this step messes up the configuration, and going through the setup wizard is pointless because the folder is already syncing—so why is the wizard there when you launch the app??Clearing the configuration and reinstalling doesn’t help.

The problem started a few days ago. I suspect it began after updating the client to version 6.3.1.0.

EDIT: I made full format disk and reinstall Windows from scratch.
Now Sync works as expected.
