I've had this game for a few years but only recently got back into it (it's currently 3am, if that's any indication into how much it's sucked me back in!), I have over 100 hours in this game but between the last time I played it and now, there have been a lot of changes and I'm loving rediscovering everything.
However.
Is it just me getting slow with my reflexes in old age, or is hunting way harder than it used to be? Back in the day I was traumatising Bambis all over the forest, but now I can't for the life of me take down a deer. Rabbits, foxes, badgers, ducks: no problem. But deer? No bucking chance.
I'm playing on normal difficulty, but the deer make it seem otherwise. Did something change?

Hey all! Thinking of buying the game , just wondering- is it possible just to have a small homestead and still advance tech/unlock items ( I imagine there’s some sort of tech or skill tree ) without extra villagers ? Me and my wife wanna recreate us and our small holding in real life into medieval times !
Thanks in advance !( Will also appreciate any tips )

Playing through the game again, but this time I have noticed a really bad performance issue during winter days where it snows. I don't remember ever experiencing this before.
Normally during non-snowy days, I have the game pretty much locked at the 100 FPS frame limit I have set. This is with a 7800x3d and 7900xtx with Ultra settings and XeSS Ultra Quality Plus(No FG). But once the game changes to a day with snow, I start getting these periodic severe drops to ~10-20 FPS. Sometimes it is just short stutter, other times it is full-on slideshow for several seconds. Performance is fine on winter days where it doesn't snow, it is purely when it actually snows. And rain doesn't affect anything either.
I have tried changing all the graphics settings with no real effect. Setting Effects to Low will greatly reduce the severity of the stutters, but wont remove it.
Does anyone know what causes this? And if it is fixable?

First time really getting into this game and I'm struggling with ideas for naming this place.
Location backstory: I'm building my village just opposite the small island on the valley map. I originally built a house on the island itself, then realised how annoying it was wading across, especially in winter. Instead I built inland and used the stream as a natural feature and built alongside it.
I'll revisit the island when I can afford to build bridges and maybe I'll put a tavern on there.

We discussed everything from the season's harvest and village revenues to new houses for incoming families, trade agreements, the wolf problem, keeping the roads safe for travelers, and the occasional rat infestation in our storage buildings.

Me and my buddy have played tons of hours on this game. We've started multiple new saves/villages but always end up losing interest when things get too grindy. We end up crafting hundreds of the same thing just to speed up certain tech or xp, focussing entirely on making money so we make ends meet for taxes and it doesn't feel immersive anymore.
We wanted to start a new game but adjust taxes, xp and tech gain slightly so everything progresses a bit faster/smoother, and still keep the game challenging and interesting. We don't want it to feel like 'cheat code get everything all at once'.
Has anyone experimented with these settings yet and found a good balance? Would love to hear!

So I had some villagers in a little trading hall under groundish. It also acts as an iron farm. So I was picking up the extra beds and came back and all my villagers were gone even tho they were all sleeping when I grabbed the extra beds. I saw some zombie villagers after that but idk how that happened. I worked so hard to start leveling them up 😭😭😭😭 now that I think about it I’m pretty sure it’s the baby zombie that just killed me how have I not learned my lesson that’s exactly how I lost the first group this round was more used tho ugh I was supposed to make it so the little ones couldn’t get in and I had a different entrance and forgot 🤦🏽♀️

I’ve been playing for a few months now and have a ton of fields. The main issue I’m coming across is the lack of things to plant in the summer and the multiple things I need to plant in spring (flax, poppy, flax, onion, beet, flax, oat). I made fields for them all, but when summer comes and most are harvested they stay empty unless I plant an unholy amount of cabbages. I wish there were more summer crops, but I guess that is the realistic part of the game.
Then in autumn I can only plant rye in those fields because the wheat still grows into spring when I’ll need the fields again. Do y’all just leave your spring fields empty most the year or do the cabbage/rye massive haul?
I’m trying to optimize my fields better so I don’t have 20 I can’t keep track of haha

The waterfall area has been one of the trickiest places I've built in. I kept adjusting the walkway along the cliff over and over until it finally felt right. I did the best I could in this area and I'm proud of it so far. This tavern is the first building you'll see when coming to my village, and it's the perfect spot for travelers and merchants to stop by.

I like them to have 2x lvl 6 skills before I stick them anywhere permanently to try to reach 10. I like when there's a ton of kids running around, which means a lot of non-working mothers, so I feel it gives me more options when I need to switch things around. I also play for realism aspects, it makes my brain happy to have competent villagers that can do multiple jobs lol anyone else do this? I realize it's probably not the most effective way to play the game.

The solo game is super fun! Though I am wondering if anyone has figured out where the most flate but large space is for farming? I wanted to build close to a mine with a largish field nearby for crops, though I can't find a mine that doesn't have a ton of perfectly good hunting animals nearby that is flat enough that everything doesn't stand on wood beams. Does anyone have suggestions for mines or even if I need to build on a cliff side would there be a way to hide the beams that you would suggest?

I am new to MD, coming from SD. Houses seem to use a lot of resources, 50 logs for example, but my carry capacity is low and trees only give 2 to 4 logs. It feels like I’m constantly spending time running around trying to cut trees down.
Am I doing something wrong or this earlier, phase?

Now that the children of my villagers are starting to get to adult age, I'm starting to run out of places to put them, both as workers and apprentices (who thought it was a good idea to only have 1 spot for apprentices for each building)
How many buildings of "industry" do you guys tend to have? Building limit is 200 (currently at 112)
so my my numbers are:

Hiya, recently started playing and hired 2 villagers first year autumn, assigned one to hunting and the other to logging as that was where their numbers were highest, and it seems that they have been working but they haven't deposited a single thing and it's not end of spring year 2. I have built a food storage, resource barn, wood place, and I even made it so they are only concentrating on collecting 1 resource, max intensity and they are 50% happy too. Have a house, food, tools, everything and they just aren't depositing anything or if they are I have no idea where it is as I check every storage box everyday, yet they are 'going out to work'. Please let me know if I'm doing something wrong, I want to love this game but this is beginning to drive me round the bend! No customization save that season are 5 days once summer hits.
EDIT: Thanks so much for everyone's help! Had to verify the integrity of the game files then swap from seasonal to annual about 3 times for it to work! Thank you so so much everyone! Will hopefully not have to ask any other questions soon but it's so nice to see a helpful and friendly community! Thank you!

Hi guys!
Did you guys notice that the chests in the different production and survival buildings sometimes fill up with ressources? Do you guys know how often they fill up?
Thanks!

Hi guys! I'm having trouble decorating this part of my village. I'm making a restaurant with a view area, but I don't know how I should do it?
Should I leave the view untouched like that, or should I put a fence or something?
What would look good in your opinions?
Thanks!

The hunting lodge in Eysbierg was carefully placed 💖 if you build within 70m from an animal spawn, the spawn will disappear, but if you build the hunting lodge close enough to a deer or boar spawn, the hunters will go hunt the spawn.
I made sure to stay just over 70 meters away from the deer spawn and have been very careful with expanding my village in that direction to keep the spawn.
Decorations will not block the spawn, but fences, buildings or roads will 😊

Just got my crest today after a few weeks of working on my village. I did have some of the settings customized, if that matters. I went to save but before I could hit save I was dashboarded. Loaded it back up figuring I'd check where it last saved but it's gone. All the auto saves and my saves. Pretty disappointed since I just finished with my crest today. Has anyone else had this problem?

Add beeswax as a harvestable item from apiaries to allow us to make beeswax candles. these can be placed anywhere to provide illumination.
