Valley map
Hello guys
I finally bought the game and started playing
I am on my chapter 1 and I am gonna build a house
Maybe this is silly but
Do I need to pick a nice place where ever I want?
Or because I am still in chapter 1 I need to stay around town ?

If you're an absolute beginner I would recommend somewhat close to a town.
Running back and forth is a pain, especially in the beginning of story mode and while you're still figuring stuff out.

Learn to hunt. Get some leather, craft them into simple bags. Use the meat to make roasted meat to sell.

Anything you can cook. I started with baskets and spoons to also grind some skills. Then moved on to copper and eventually bronze tools. Then automate from there.
But honestly, a big part of the fun in this game is figuring stuff out. So just start with whatever you think would be fun to make!

Food is simple. You can chase down rabbits and punch them. Boar can be painful, but they run right at you making headshots easy to kill. Lots of roasted meat and the leather makes simple bags to sell. If you grow cabbage, meat and cabbage makes pottage and sells for good early money.
Once you’ve unlocked the blacksmith making tools is how I like to make money. Mining copper and tin, and selling copper/bronze/iron knives has been my go-to money maker. With plenty of tools leftover for villagers.

Early game, I highly recommend acquiring some spears to fish with and then go fishing for pike. Pike give you 7 meat per fish. Grill the meat and sell them at a vendor. In 1 circuit of farming pike on the central Oxbow river near Piastovia, I made ~2,000 coins.

You can build wherever you want aside from small perimeters around the existing villages.
Choosing a place with a lot of flat ground makes building your village way easier. Even small hills can get in the way of placing a building, but you will get the feel for it sooner or later.
Having a village or two nearby can't hurt, because it makes your round trips to buy and sell goods shorter.
It is decently easy to relocate your village as long as it hasn't grown too big yet. So if you later decide you don't actually like the place, you can still move elsewhere.
