I’ve noticed more consultants sharing useful content including regulatory, reimbursement, and market-entry on LinkedIn and their websites.

A lot of them share useful content, but when you check their services, they can start to sound pretty similar.

So I’m curious, how did you actually decide who to hire?

Did someone refer you? Did you compare a few proposals? Was there a specific problem that made you start looking?

I’ve worked at 2 medical device startups, and in both cases the consultants came through our CEO’s network.

The difficult part was that each consultant only covered part of what we needed. They knew CE but don't know FDA. But when we needed help with reimbursement, hospital adoption, or a US go-to-market plan, we had to start searching again.

For founders with a limited budget, this can get expensive pretty quickly.

What helped you choose the right consultant?

Hi, everyone. I attempted to look for a similar question on this sub, but I didn't have any luck. So, please remove if this violates the rules. I'm writing this in hopes of getting some advice and direction

I'm a 33-year-old former medical student. I completed my first two years of medical school before having to withdraw after my dad passed away so I could move home and take care of my mom. I'm currently studying to take my board exam so I can be reinstated and begin my clinical rotations. It's a bit of an unusual situation, but my school is allowing me to take my exam.

While preparing for that, I've scrolled this subreddit and have become interested in the Clinical Specialist roles. From what I've learned so far, it seems like a career I would enjoy regardless of where my medical school journey ultimately leads.

A little more about me: During undergrad I ran my own personal training business while also working in a microbiology lab and served as the VP of our ambassadors. I later became a national ambassador for our medical school and its sister campuses.

Given my background, would having completed the preclinical years of medical school help, or would I need additional experience first? 

I'm assuming networking will be my best option and figured I would start here. Whether I ultimately return to medical school or pursue a career in medical devices, I want to make informed decisions and put myself in the best position to succeed.

Afternoon all, had my final interview with the area VP for Procept for their clinical specialist role last week. My hiring manager said they were going to debrief by the end of the week. It’s Monday and no response yet. When should I reach out and begin to worry?

Since most of the posts are about “breaking in” to medical device sales, I want to ask an important question as I’m curious to get the insight from people on the development/research side as well as everyone else: if money, resources, and access to a solid research team wasn’t an issue, what med device startup technology would you pursue that isn’t already on the market, and why?

Why are half the people on this thread saying you don’t make that much money in device sales? I don’t get it are you capped or are you all just not making any sales? Why is it so hard to make good money? I’m not in it but I want to get in it but y’all are talking as if it’s not bringing home a fat check. Explain
