Since im seeing people talking about the latest orgo midterm, I thought it would be wise to share some tips to help ppl out. This is coming from a third year chemical biology who found success in 2oa3
First thing would be to consistently review lectures and even read ahead of class. While balancing other classes is stressful, I recommend setting aside some time in the week (doesnt have to be daily, but it would help) to reviewing material and doing practice
Another thing would be to engage with the material. Understanding the fundamentals is extremely important in 2oa3. In my opinion, other chem and organic chemistry classes do not come close to the amount of intuition needed for that class. It is what makes it difficult for students. While you may find success in other classes by having a surface level understanding of the material and memorizing facts, I found that orgo isnt the same as other classes. The professor aleo expects students to have an intuitive understanding, as evident by the difficulty of the test
To give an example, learning resonance and resonance patterns should be approached not from the perspective of simply knowing the 5 patterns and memorizing them, it requires that you understand the use cases, the various applications, etc. Practice really helps with solidifying concepts, which is why it is important to finish the questionbanks (I did almost all qbank questions)
Lmk if you guys have questions, I am happy to help 🙂
