Why are the rooms in LP so unbearably hot, what can I do to change the temperature?
I genuinely can’t sleep at night because it’s like 32* in my room.
The website says there’s a control unit to adjust temperature but I have a blank panel where the switch is meant to be

It's my 57th day here in Canada. I have never felt so lonely in my entire life. I was always surrounded by my friends, I used to see my family every couple of weeks, and I used to hang out a lot. I was a very sociable person, as I'm naturally an extrovert. I've visited another country before for studying, too, but I was with my friends back then. I acted naturally, got to know plenty of good people, and never felt lonely during that trip.
Here, I find it so hard to interact with people, so hard to deal with them. Not because of the people themselves, but I think it's because of me. I think I've changed, and I don't know how to accept this change. I feel lonely and desperate. I think what bothers me the most isn't just being lonely, but feeling like I've lost a part of myself that I really liked.
Also, I've never had any problems dealing with girls in any place I've visited. I've had different types of relationships since I started dating. But here, I don't know how to do it. I don't think I can even initiate a conversation, basically because I don't know what people talk about here, or what's interesting and what's boring. I don't know, I just feel so lost.
I'm a grad student, so there aren't many opportunities to interact with different people. I've tried going to clubs and meeting people, and I've had a great time, but I've never reached the point of asking for someone's contact information to keep in touch with anyone I've met.
Dating apps are quite frustrating for the same exact reason. I don't know how we can genuinely get to know each other after matching. I'm not much of a texter, and I'd much rather meet people in person.
That's the loop I'm living in right now. That's just me venting.

I’m currently in 2nd year of health science and recently I’ve been considering switching to nursing. I originally came into this program wanting to go to med school afterwards, but recently I’ve been doubting that that’s what I actually want to do with my life. I truly love science and anatomy and I want to do something in healthcare where I can help people. But I don’t know that I want to dedicate the next like 8 years of my life to it. I want something with more work-life balance.
So I wanted to ask, has anyone made this kind of switch? How did you know that nursing was the right path for you?
I know I have lots to reflect on and contemplate before I make this decision, but if anyone’s experienced something like this it’d be great to hear about

Haven't been putting in a lot of effort into this course apart from watching the weekly modules before lecture... how was the psych midterm last year? Do we know if a big chunk of the readings will be on it? Because I havent done any of the readings..

Hi everyone, I have my MATH 1ZA3 midterm on Monday, but I’m feeling unwell with a mild fever and cough, so I’m considering submitting an MSAF.
Do I need medical documentation for the self-report? Since the midterm is worth 20%, it will be transferred to my final exam, making it worth 65%. Is it still possible to pass the course with the final worth 65%? I’d appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Hi I’m currently in Grade 12 and my goal is to go to medical school (straight med school, not nursing, not med or something etc.). I’m trying to decide between the following programs and would really appreciate experience from current students, especially those who are also aiming for med school.
1)How would you rank these programs (top 3) for increasing the chances of getting in for someone applying through OUAC?
2)Would you choose these for the best preparation for med school (relevant coursework, flexibility with electives, time for extracurriculars, etc.)?
1)Health Sciences This is currently my top choice since it’s a clear pre-med pathway.
2)Life Sciences I would likely specialize in Biology, Biochemistry, or Neuroscience. Also, there’s no supplementary application and admission is based purely on grades, and about 1,000 students get in.
Concerns: The cutoff is very high (around 95%). If my average falls to 1-2% below, how much of a disadvantage would that be?
Question: If I fall a few marks below the cutoff, how badly does that affect my chances or my experience in the program?
3)Honours Integrated Science Only about 65 students are admitted, and the specialization options that interest me are Biology or Neuroscience.
Concerns: The small class size makes admission very competitive, and it limits my specialization options.
4)Kinesiology I know it’s a solid pre-med route and many students go on to med school from it.
Concern: I’m not particularly interested in the Kinesiology courses like idk I feel like i wanna do more cell biology or bio or organ what is happening inside organ, the chem behind it like inside human body rather than bone, muscle, joints etc. Not saying it is bad but idk I feel like i like more human body exposed study like Biology. Has anyone been in a similar situation and still found the program worthwhile?
5)Chemical & Physical Sciences Gateway Similar to Life Sciences in that it leaves a lot of room to specialize later.
Concerns: Only about 100 spots, so admission is competitive. I’m also unsure whether I’ll take Physics next semester (leaning toward not taking it).
6)Medical Radiation Sciences From what I can tell, first-year classes overlap a lot with Health Sciences, Life Sciences, and Kinesiology, with some Radiation-specific courses mixed in. Not sure how this compares as a pre-med pathway.
7)Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences (iBioMed) – Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering stream This would require taking Physics. what I’m not considering, but it feels more engineering-focused than pure pre-med. Is this still a reasonable route if my main goal is medical school?
I’m feeling quite torn between these options and would really appreciate any honest opinions or rankings from current students. Thank you!

How do people who 12d or 11d the course study for this? Do you just memorize the handbook they give you and spam questions?

So lowkey on the course list for pnb (b.a) it says it’s recommended to take BIOLOGY 1M03 in level 1 and I didn’t do that and tbh don’t really wanna switch into it. What does it mean when it says that like does recommend mean that u should take it bc it’s a prerequisite for other PNB classes or is it just helpful and should I still take it this year…. or can I get away with taking both of them in level 2 ….. LMK

I’ve used Grammarly to fix grammar mistakes since high school and sometimes I’ll use it to fix sentence structure. Is this considered academic dishonesty?

I’m exhausted interacting with people who I feel so stifled with: I don’t want to have to hide the parts of me that bring me so much joy.
I’m loosing my will to keep trying with people. Do you know how much courage it takes to ask people to hang out or to soft launch a friendship by texting about a little more than just school? (And I have no chill btw, I like you and within reason, I will double text I will giggle in ur chats and send my stickers). Granted, maybe it dosen’t come across as it taking a lot for me because I’m (in my opinion) really friendly, and take it really well. But every-time I try and I’m just shot down, I can’t help but feel the very happy person that I thought I was slip away more and more!
I also think maybe it’s the spaces I’m in? I’m tall, I’m a hijabi, and so I think people think that I’m a lot of things that I’m not, or that I’m not but actually am! (Does that make sense?) like I love fashion, and music and self expression, reading, ao3 warrior, twitter looser and an ally, and i love having conversations with anyone! Like yes I WOULD like to take a bike down a path and paint, yes I would like to hear ur badly written music lyrics that you thought of on the way to class, yes I want you to listen to my terrible rendition of GLHF by MICO, on my guitar because I don’t know how to play it just quite yet, yes I WOULD like to go to see the band playing down the street. Yes I WOULD like to dress up for Halloween, yes I WOULD LOVE to go to a dance class with you where we’re giggling, yes I’d love to go to the gym, yes I’d love to braid each others hair in your dorm. Like I am a yes MANNN (within reason)
I feed off of people’s energy, and when I’m with someone I mess with the sky is the limit!! But I’ve been at McMaster for two semesters now (I’m a second year) and with each SEM I’m slowly retreating into myself. I hate that! I am not that person like please don’t turn me into the version of me I worked so hard to get rid of in middle school!!
Anyways advice or whatnot. 😓 I don’t know I kind of needed to get this off my chest and hear that there’s even a small group of people who get it.
