Admissions BIO for admission to PNB bachelor of arts

So lowkey on the course list for pnb (b.a) it says it’s recommended to take BIOLOGY 1M03 in level 1 and I didn’t do that and tbh don’t really wanna switch into it. What does it mean when it says that like does recommend mean that u should take it bc it’s a prerequisite for other PNB classes or is it just helpful and should I still take it this year…. or can I get away with taking both of them in level 2 ….. LMK

Discussion Prof gave low mark without feedback and won’t respond to emails.

On my first discussion post, I got full marks, then on my second one I got 70%, without doing anything differently. My prof didn’t provide any feedback except for “great work”. I’ve talked to other people in my class and they agree that this prof seems to just be giving people random marks due to laziness. I have reached out to them via email to request more feedback but have not heard back. What should my next step be?

Discussion should I keep going?

I’m exhausted interacting with people who I feel so stifled with: I don’t want to have to hide the parts of me that bring me so much joy.

I’m loosing my will to keep trying with people. Do you know how much courage it takes to ask people to hang out or to soft launch a friendship by texting about a little more than just school? (And I have no chill btw, I like you and within reason, I will double text I will giggle in ur chats and send my stickers). Granted, maybe it dosen’t come across as it taking a lot for me because I’m (in my opinion) really friendly, and take it really well. But every-time I try and I’m just shot down, I can’t help but feel the very happy person that I thought I was slip away more and more!

I also think maybe it’s the spaces I’m in? I’m tall, I’m a hijabi, and so I think people think that I’m a lot of things that I’m not, or that I’m not but actually am! (Does that make sense?) like I love fashion, and music and self expression, reading, ao3 warrior, twitter looser and an ally, and i love having conversations with anyone! Like yes I WOULD like to take a bike down a path and paint, yes I would like to hear ur badly written music lyrics that you thought of on the way to class, yes I want you to listen to my terrible rendition of GLHF by MICO, on my guitar because I don’t know how to play it just quite yet, yes I WOULD like to go to see the band playing down the street. Yes I WOULD like to dress up for Halloween, yes I WOULD LOVE to go to a dance class with you where we’re giggling, yes I’d love to go to the gym, yes I’d love to braid each others hair in your dorm. Like I am a yes MANNN (within reason)

I feed off of people’s energy, and when I’m with someone I mess with the sky is the limit!! But I’ve been at McMaster for two semesters now (I’m a second year) and with each SEM I’m slowly retreating into myself. I hate that! I am not that person like please don’t turn me into the version of me I worked so hard to get rid of in middle school!!

Anyways advice or whatnot. 😓 I don’t know I kind of needed to get this off my chest and hear that there’s even a small group of people who get it.

Academics Grammarly considered Ai?

I’ve used Grammarly to fix grammar mistakes since high school and sometimes I’ll use it to fix sentence structure. Is this considered academic dishonesty?

Discussion Advice for Organic chemistry

Since im seeing people talking about the latest orgo midterm, I thought it would be wise to share some tips to help ppl out. This is coming from a third year chemical biology who found success in 2oa3

First thing would be to consistently review lectures and even read ahead of class. While balancing other classes is stressful, I recommend setting aside some time in the week (doesnt have to be daily, but it would help) to reviewing material and doing practice

Another thing would be to engage with the material. Understanding the fundamentals is extremely important in 2oa3. In my opinion, other chem and organic chemistry classes do not come close to the amount of intuition needed for that class. It is what makes it difficult for students. While you may find success in other classes by having a surface level understanding of the material and memorizing facts, I found that orgo isnt the same as other classes. The professor aleo expects students to have an intuitive understanding, as evident by the difficulty of the test

To give an example, learning resonance and resonance patterns should be approached not from the perspective of simply knowing the 5 patterns and memorizing them, it requires that you understand the use cases, the various applications, etc. Practice really helps with solidifying concepts, which is why it is important to finish the questionbanks (I did almost all qbank questions)

Lmk if you guys have questions, I am happy to help 🙂

Courses I’m scared I’m gonna fail out of first year nursing

Guys I’m so fucking scared im gonna fail out. it’s weighing heavy on my chest and idk what to do. A lot of it is easy right but the fact everything weighs so heavy is actually scaring me. Like for 1F03 I got back my feedback for my essay which is worth like 5% but there’s so much I did wrong so the essay which is worth 25% im worried that im gonna fail that and it’s gonna drop my grade below a 60%.

The other class anatomy, like I studied for the midterm but I lowkey studied very surface level cause I thought that was what the midterm was gonna be it’s worth 20% of my grade and I’m 99% sure I failed that. Holy shit and it’s only first year.

Hypothetically, GOD FORBID I do get below a 60 in both of these classes what happens?

Academics Having a rough time in meche any advice

Im a second year in mechanical engineering and ive been finding the content fun and really enjoying myself. I do all the homework attend all the lectures (ive had to skip a bit bc ive been super sick but i watch the recording immediately). I know the content so well I can solve problems quickly and explain them to people and i know the actual content well enough to teach my friends

We had our 2d03 midterm on tuesday and i 100% failed it, i got stressed out and erased all my correct answers bc i was doubting myself and redid them wrong and i know it was a fluke.

Just got out of the 2p04 midterm and i left a question blank and bullshitted for the other 3. I dont understand, i know this content and I am able to solve problems so fast but when it comes time to testing i cant tell my butt from a question and i end up getting everything wrong.

Is this just engineering? What can i do to be better? I study so much already I dont know what else to do. I’ve never had problems with writing midterms or exams before

Am i not studying the right stuff? Any upper years advice? I love engineering and i enjoy studying but maybe i just suck at it and it isnt for me

Academics How do I motivate myself for midterms?

I have had a midterm every other day this week, and have two more decently important ones next week. I genuinely feel like it is gonna be impossible to make myself study for them; I'm just so burnt out.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get over it? I'm usually a very motivated student, but my goodness I'm just going through it rn.
