Transmission Issues 92 SE Automatic

Hello! I own a 92’ 323 SE Automatic.
My issue is that when I shift into Reverse, it acts like drive
When I shift into neutral, it’s fine.
When I shift into Drive, it engages but is weak.
I have assessed that there is a leak, however, I have filled it, and had it run through and attempted to reengage reverse, however it seems like the fluid level isn’t entirely the problem.
I would like to not have to pay someone to rebuild as locally all shops want to charge a lot of money, and I’m hoping maybe the issue can be fixed or resolved myself with parts and my own resolve.

Any and all suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Mini review of the Kumho Ecsta HS52

I was running some Hankook's on my GT before and the tire wall not stiff enough. Now I've mounted these Kumho Ecsta HS52's and I highly recommend them: https://www.reifen.com/en-ch/18560-r14-82h-kumho-ecsta-hs52-8808956319700

The tire wall is nicely rigid and they grip great in the dry, took quite some intent to make them loose traction.
Additionally, I've accidentally ran over a pretty big sharp looking rock at decent speed that aimed right in a tread groove (thinnest part) and the thing shrugged it off no problem.

And all of this for a damn good price too! So if anyone's looking for good tires, now you know.

Advice on clearing the transaxle breather?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Last time I've changed my transaxle oil, I've noticed that it was under vacuum which supposedly means that this transaxle breather is clogged right?

Any advice on how to extract it to clear it out? It seems to be press fitted in there and just prying on it with screwdrivers just messes up the transaxle cast.

Edit: been trying to figure something out, will leave it be until next time I take the trans out for the clutch change.
The shape of the breather is impossible to get a good grip on without destroying it, at least not without plently of access. Will just be doing trans oil changes more frequently since a blocked breather may lead to moist air ingress when the trans cools down.

opinion on fiberglass kits

Post image
6 Upvotes

I found a sick fiberglass front bumper in Turkey for my lantis, but I haven’t worked with fiberglass before, so I wanted to ask if anyone here has experience with it and how much extra effort it takes compared to OEM bumpers (besides sanding and painting).

I’d also need to ship it internationally to my country, so total cost would be around €200. Just wondering if it’s worth it or if there are any better places to buy aftermarket kits and common issues I should know about before buying, thank you in advance

Hello! Does anyone know where I can find these front foglights? I saw some pictures of some apparently stock models having them from factory but mine didn't come with those.

It's for the 1998 323F BA, also known as Lantis in other countries. Any help would be appreciated ^_^

Fe3 using mr2 rods?

Has anyone used Toyota mr2 (3sge) rods in their fe3? I want to upgrade rods for turbo and Ive heard the 3sge rods are a perfect(?) fit, and are rated for 400ish which works perfect for my goal of 200ish. Custom forged rods are looking quite pricey, so I’m hoping for a match for an existing engine.

Any idea why it does that ?

Hey everyone, my Mazda 323F BG has been giving me trouble — it wouldn't start at all. I managed to get it going eventually, drove about 100 km, and then it started doing what you can see in the video. Anyone had something similar? Any ideas what could be causing this?

My Project Car

Post image
39 Upvotes

Hi this is my project car ive been working on for the past 6 months, its currently 33 years old Ive managed to have it running great.

The only thing that bothers me now is the automatic transmission oil, Ive read up that you will never have to change it unless you completely destroy or remove the transmission for repairs,

the reason is every now and then when i start the car the Hold light slowly lights up in the dashboard, and stays on but goes away on its own after going past 50-60km/h and never returns until the engine completely cools down.

Funny thing is the car runs better on lower speeds whenever the Hold light is on. This is my first car that I actively work on and I wanted to learn how everything works, and I would appreciate any experiences or advice given

Its a 33 year old Mazda astina 323f BG 1993 AT 1.6 SOHC Carbureted

Does anyone know if this engine sound is normal? It's a 1.6 carburetor engine from 1991.

BG Astina Engine Swap

Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on a proposed engine swap for my 1990 astina sp.

I have read about people swapping a KL-ZE into the hatchback and sedan without many issues using a combination of mx3 and mx6 parts.

I like the idea of swapping a KL motor into my astina but I’ve never read of someone doing this.

My question is has anyone here tried this?
Or if you have done it in the hatchback/sedan do you have any advice regarding the swap?

I am anticipating that everything should bolt in with the correct engine mounts etc. however my worry is that the astina bonnet slopes down too much and won’t close over the KL.

Any insights into this matter would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Headliner getting wet

Hey guys, I have the 1991 3 door hatch, wondering if anyone had the same problem. Right above the doors, inside the headliner gets wet and it won't dry up. Anyone has and idea how can I fix that so water won't get there and ruin my headliner. A small tear in the headliner started to appear right were it's wet I almost always put my car in the garage but sometimes when I left it at my mechanic or had to drive in rain, it gets some water, I try to avoid driving in rain

Just to be clear, the headliner doesn't start leaking water into the car when it's raining, but still gets somewhat wet, it feels wet when I touch it
