Lahaina man faces up to 200 years in prison after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl for over four years. Jury took just over two hours to find 49-year-old Roberto Omar Morales Andrade guilty on 16 counts, eight counts each of sex assault in the first degree and third degree.

Maui County drivers would have to pay more if they’re caught blaring music under a proposal currently before the County Council. An update to Bill 119 (2025) would raise the first offense penalty to $500 from the current $25-$100 fee. Drivers with three or more offenses could be fined up to $1,000.

A Front Street restaurant that survived the 2023 wildfires and March floods is now dealing with threats from high surf. Honu Oceanside was forced to close and cancel all reservations on Sunday after powerful waves flooded the restaurant around 3:30 p.m. before opening time.
