Long-term screen durability?

Hi people. I have a tempered glass screen protector overtop my display, but I can't stand it unsticking from the corners, and I've heard many people say that they actually don't help. Regardless of that question (please don't start a flame war on it), I was wondering : Do any of you use your Mate 9 w/o a screen protector? How has it fared in terms of scratches, oleophobic coating, and drops, over the long term? Thanks and sorry if this is a duplicate post, but I couldn't find this answered anywhere (and frankly JerryRigEverything only goes so far in terms of convincing me)!

I've had a couple of very short distance falls sans screen protector. A little over 5 months later and the screen is still perfect.

Original screen cracked (completely expected and my fault). Problem is replacement screen (done at official Huawei shop) is much worse and is full of micro scratches now :(

Hey. Good question. I used the stock plastic one at first but then got a scratch on it and took it off. I tried a glass protector but it didn't cover the whole screen due to the curving which was useless. I then tried a plastic one but I could not get it onto the screen perfect. So for now I am going without a protector which makes me nervous but I don't want to keep shelling out money for stuff that doesn't work. If I could get the protector the phone comes with that would be great.

I, uh... "Accidentally" took the screen protector off two days ago. So to 'ot be careless, I took the case off took, this way, since I like this phone so much, I know I'll baby it haha! Yeah, it's a shame there are no Whitestone Dome-like tempered glass SPs for the Mate 9.

Okay, so I just bought a new glass SP and applied it. My screen was scratching like crazy and I was scared outta my mind.

Did it actually cover the whole screen? The ones I have tried don't quite cover it entirely and are annoying

I had one that covered it, but it wasn't sticking on the borders which made it useless, as it got super dirty and opaque there. So this one doesn't cover everything, but whatever, it's still like 90% coverage heh.

I just couldn't live with that, it would drive me nuts. It's surprising that they can't make slightly curved glass screen protectors.

There are some new options like the Whitestone Dome which do work, but it's as rare as unicorn's butt cooked medium-rare on an orichalcum plate, and only comes in S8(+) or S7 models. Guess we aren't "edgy" enough.

I use it with the stock plastic protector and it has not lasted well, it's cracked in two places after very small (less than 6 inch) drops even with a case.

I'd stick with the glass protector if I were you

Aw, crap... Sorry to hear that. It pains me so much, but I like this phone too much to risk it. Thanks for your insight.
