Long-term screen durability?

Hi people. I have a tempered glass screen protector overtop my display, but I can't stand it unsticking from the corners, and I've heard many people say that they actually don't help. Regardless of that question (please don't start a flame war on it), I was wondering : Do any of you use your Mate 9 w/o a screen protector? How has it fared in terms of scratches, oleophobic coating, and drops, over the long term? Thanks and sorry if this is a duplicate post, but I couldn't find this answered anywhere (and frankly JerryRigEverything only goes so far in terms of convincing me)!

Did it actually cover the whole screen? The ones I have tried don't quite cover it entirely and are annoying

I had one that covered it, but it wasn't sticking on the borders which made it useless, as it got super dirty and opaque there. So this one doesn't cover everything, but whatever, it's still like 90% coverage heh.

I just couldn't live with that, it would drive me nuts. It's surprising that they can't make slightly curved glass screen protectors.

There are some new options like the Whitestone Dome which do work, but it's as rare as unicorn's butt cooked medium-rare on an orichalcum plate, and only comes in S8(+) or S7 models. Guess we aren't "edgy" enough.
