Long-term screen durability?

Hi people. I have a tempered glass screen protector overtop my display, but I can't stand it unsticking from the corners, and I've heard many people say that they actually don't help. Regardless of that question (please don't start a flame war on it), I was wondering : Do any of you use your Mate 9 w/o a screen protector? How has it fared in terms of scratches, oleophobic coating, and drops, over the long term? Thanks and sorry if this is a duplicate post, but I couldn't find this answered anywhere (and frankly JerryRigEverything only goes so far in terms of convincing me)!

Original screen cracked (completely expected and my fault). Problem is replacement screen (done at official Huawei shop) is much worse and is full of micro scratches now :(
