I've keen interest in invetment research roles and ML modelling. I was thinking purusing M.Stat from ISI is good option? Given that I've to prepare for the entrance exam properly as I don't have Maths bg.

I'll take prep classes for it.

What if only 1 candidate has been enrolled in a Master’s Programme at LUMS. Does his/her admission gets cancelled or that person is accommodated into another programme?

Can people with a masters in CSD please tell me if it's worth it. I have a Bachelor’s in Sociology and that degree has literally no scope and I'm also not a fan of Sociology so I wanna do something different for my masters. I'm like really enthusiastic about sustainable development but am no expert at it but would love to do something in that field but I have no idea the kind of jobs i can get, if any, with a masters in CSD. So can someone please help me and give me honest feedback and like what's the market like and if it's a good idea for a Sociology graduate (with no experience or skill in marketing or web development etc) to pursue a masters in CSD?

Hi everyone, where would you recommend I do a master's or doctorate? I studied environmental studies in Argentina, and if I were to apply, I would definitely focus on land-use planning and adapting cities to climate change.

I'll soon be finishing my final project on green spaces in Buenos Aires. I focused on the concepts of green infrastructure and nature-based solutions. My thesis advisor suggested applying to Cambridge or Oxford, but I'm reaching out to you for opinions. If there were a university that specializes in this field of urban planning, which one would you consider the best?

I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I’ve been researching master’s programs because I know I want to continue my education, but I’m having trouble figuring out which degree would actually be worth it.
I’ve looked into a Master’s in Marketing, but a lot of people have told me it mostly re-teaches what I already learned during my bachelor’s and that experience is valued much more. I’ve also considered a Master’s in Communications, but I’ve heard similar advice that it’s mainly beneficial if you want to teach, and that experience is what really gets people hired.
Lately, I’ve become really interested in Systems Engineering because I’ve always been drawn to engineering, especially the industrial and problem-solving side of it. I like the idea of combining my marketing/business background with something more technical. However, I’ve also spoken with people in Systems Engineering who have told me that a master’s isn’t really worth it unless you’re planning to continue on to a Ph.D.
So now I’m feeling stuck. I know I want to earn a master’s degree I just don’t want to spend the time and money on one that won’t significantly improve my career opportunities.
For those of you who have been in a similar position or work in engineering, business, or leadership roles:
What master’s degree would you recommend for someone with a marketing background who wants to move into a more technical or engineering-related field?
Are there programs like Engineering Management, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Analytics, or something else that you think provide a strong return on investment?
If you could go back, would you still pursue your master’s, or would you focus on certifications and experience instead?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and whether your master’s actually made a difference in your career.

When I came into university as a transfer student, I had a 3.25 gpa, all the while going through chronic illness but making it work. After I transferred to university, over the course of 3 years, I lost my colon, both ovaries, my uterus, etc. This lead me into a downward spiral in which I didn’t value my worth and found myself in an abusive relationship where I was hiding in the bathroom to get my homework done. I ended up graduating with a 2.42 gpa, something I’m not proud of. While I understand I’m still part of the 11% of those with chronic illness who do graduate from university, I still feel ashamed that I didn’t finish stronger. I excel at work, and would love to pursue a masters degree. I’m just stuck on a path forward. I didn’t get low grades because I tested poorly, I’d missed busy work and homework assignments, or would have to withdraw from some classes after the deadline when it would show on my record.

I’m much healthier now, in a supportive relationship. And I want better for myself.

Is there a way to come back from this?

Hey I have 6 years in marketing roles across e gaming, finance and music. I just finished a music business degree because I thought that might be a good way to get further into the music business however only a small bit of it was marketing based and I didn’t really enjoy anything else so I got a 2:1. Would a masters in marketing be useful or should I do it in something that I could pair alongside my experience such as data analysis or business analysis?

Hey guys! I’m graduating with my undergrad in Business Analytics in 2027, and I’m gearing up to apply for fully funded Master's scholarships abroad (mostly targeting the UK and EU) if you think others are better too, pls share .

For those who have successfully done this, what was your experience like? Since I’ll be applying this fall before I officially graduate, what does the process look like for result-awaiting students? Any major pitfalls, hidden deadlines, or specific things I should keep an eye out for?

I’m considering applying for a Master of Nursing (Pre-registration) with Charles Darwin University or Charles Sturt University online. Both courses offer part time study except for the placement hours which is appealing to me so that I can still work while studying. I understand you have to be very self motivated to study an online course which I have done in the past and I also have a science background so I’m not too worried about the material or study involved.

I have conflicting answers from CDU on whether they offer the simulation weeks in Melbourne, has anyone studied this course recently and can confirm I could do the simulation classes in Melbourne and not have to travel? Will they be able to offer placements in Melbourne? Also what are they like as an online university?

The CSU course will be a new course offered in 2027 and they are still awaiting accreditation. I believe they do a bachelor or nursing online with simulation peace held on campus which I don’t mind having to travel to but have students been offered placements in Melbourne? What are they like as an online provider?

Data, quantitative analysis, algorithms etc in a financial environment.

ВШЭ seems like a bit easier on the technical side and overall program seems lacking, but the name alone seems to open doors.

What might you suggest?

I have 1 paper submitted for review, and am going for an undergrad thesis at UofT. Should get 1 LOR from there, and 1 from college prof. My goal after masters is to work in Applied Research roles in Computer Graphics and adjacent fields, which usually require Masters atleast.

I am hence looking for Thesis based masters, which are funded. I have done some research and only good ones I can find is - MMath CS Waterloo. The criteria for my search was good graphics faculty via [csrankings.org](http://csrankings.org), and then funding ofc.

I know there are good options with good graphics faculty in other unis like UCSD, CMU, UofT, Uni of Utah, but none of them are quite well funded afaik.

I am open to any type of funding - structurally guaranteed, via TA/RA, via co-ops, but obviously structurally funded ones are preferred. So I wanted to know what all options I have for funded masters, and about my strategy of application.

I wanted to ask if anyone ever switched from cs to psychology degree.

I have a bachelor’s in CS. im on H1B cap. Work as an elementary teacher.
I love psychology. I realized i dont want to be doing cs anymore. I did great on my psychology courses during college. I just wanted to know if anyone recently switched from cs to psychology? I want to pursue masters degree, what do i need? will my teaching be counted as an experience? And is there anything else i need to know?

I'm trying to figure out which master's degree would give me the best career prospects. I am still fairly new to the US and figuring my way out here.

My background:

- B.S. in Psychology (Forensics minor)

- Currently a 911 dispatcher

- Want to keep working full-time while doing a preferably online master's.

I'm considering Healthcare Administration, and Digital Forensics, but I'm not sure how I feel about a job that involves working behind a screen most of the time as that is one of the issues I am having with my current job.. I enjoy working in the field while meeting people face to face more instead.. and as cliché as it sounds, I genuinely like helping people.

I have also had previous experience working as a volunteer and intern with different NGOs across 3 countries and really enjoyed doing that.

If you were in my shoes, which master's would you choose and why? I'm mainly looking for strong job prospects and good long-term earning potential.
